Default TESTIMONIALS ONLY! SEAL Fit Training Camp #3

A few hours ago we secured NSC training camp #3. The next camp is scheduled for October. We will try and get comments from participants up on site shortly.

The intent of this forum is to discuss NSC training camps, this would include previous participants who have questions about something that was taught, questions and concerns from people who are deciding whether to attend a camp or people who are going to attend a future camp and need some advice on how best to prepare.

We had a good turnout for camp #3 of the people who attended two DOR and one struggled through a previous injury to almost complete camp {he was unable to complete one evolution}. As I am sure all participants would agree the camps are very, very tough.

Thumbs up Re: SEAL Training Camp #3

HOOYAH Class 3!

The Challenge of NSC training camp does not halt with survival, but like hamburger says, it's a moment of sudden, humble pride. Plenty of locals and high calibre athletes pitched in with their support while we trained all over the streets of Encinitas. A lot of them were curious if we actually paid to get our asses kicked, but they grinned as they watched us lumbering up hills drooling and sandy. So come here with a purpose, a plan, an objective and walk away with your head squared away set for your continued training to success.

The crew is absolutely phenomenal! I was impressed with the genuine quality here on multiple counts. Some people were concerned about the price, but I think the lush meals and lodgings offset the rigorous physical regime. Seriously though, what you learn is beyond simple value. These instructors are practical and efficient.

This course raises the bar on performance, opening doors within your inner self as you propel through weakness, pain, self-doubt, and understand the concept of TEAM. If you know me in real life, you know I'm a skeptic. The instructors of this class trained along a structure I thought impossible.

I went into the event thinking very individualistically and competitively. It is amazing to see how quickly people can bond when the mind and body are trained right. PT will rapidly resolve any communication problems in a group. I doubt the lessons would be as successful if I just read a book. Instead, taking the course, walking the walk, accepting with humility that sometimes you are last, most of the time you are not first, and challenging yourself to gut through it is highly recommended to all people who want to improve their current training programs. The instructors never give anything less than their all, and this type of mentorship is rare.

This class represents a small, highly intensive portion of the most challenging phase of BUD/S. Use it to remotivate yourself if you lost your fire temporarily, prove to yourself that you are alive, check your basic fitness competencies, and begin developing that much-needed intelligence: mental, physical, spiritual with the guidance of a genuine team.

What I value the most from this priceless experience is that you get out of it what you put into it. Go for it!

I also recommend if you have preexisting injuries to get those checked by a doc and mention it on the application. Don't think you will just gut it through, this is an intense program. There's no sense to risking permanent or long-term injury.

My sincere appreciation goes to Julie and Scott who brought this event to my attention, to the instructors and staff for being genuine and knowledgeable, and Class 3 for teaching me all about teamwork.

This is an email that was sent by member of training class 3 to NSC today. I took the liberty of copy email and posting it.

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to attend your navy seals camp. I had an incredible time. You guys pushed me to my limits, and I bounced back and continued on. You and all of your intructors are amazing people. You have a good bunch of guys working for you. All I have been sharing with friends and family is this amazing camp I attended. I can't think about anything else but this camp. You guys did an amazing job coordinating everything involved in the camp. I noticed the instructors along with yourself were video taping the entire time the camp was going on. I was just wondering if we could get a copy of the footage you guys shot, so we can look back on this amazing experience of our lives. Thank you again for giving me this opportunity!!!

ps I will keep in touch and try to update my times on the crossfit website.

I am posting this on behalf of another participant in NSC camp #3

Coach Rob I hope this gets to you, I was hoping the following could be posted in the "SEAL Fit Camp #3" forum, I'm having trouble with my login and password.

When my friends and family ask me "how was it?" I look at them with that thousand yard stare and say "words can't explain how amazing it was". There are truly only fourteen people who know what it took to make it, that's my ten teammates who finished with me and the four coaches who took us through it.

I have a silent inner pride from the experience now. The coaches are some amazing men, I have never met anyone even close to their equal. I realized that honor and integrity are still alive in this world and these men personify those qualities.

I recommend the experience to anyone searching for their true self. Once I heal up, get back to my workouts and ratchet up the intensity I hope to attend some more of the Pre-SOF classes taught by Coach Rob. I just can't get enough and the fire continues to burn inside me. Thanks again to all the coaches, my teammates and Sarah for the excellent food.

Has anybody developed any knee tendonitis as a result of the camp? I have some pain in my left knee, from what I can gather I need to rest, use lots of ice, compress and elevate.

I just hate not being able to run.......

just a matter of editing it, shouldn't be too long. These things take a bit of time.

The SEAL fit camp is an amazing experience, the instructors are great. We did so much in such a short period of time I found myself sorting through it for weeks to fallow. Although you do spend a lot of time running around and doing pushups, you also spend a lot of time strengthening your mind. At the end of the camp my perspective on life was altered. You can be told that you’re capable of 20xs more, but the instructors do just tell you they show you, they push you there. It’s also an extremely well rounded course. You spend a lot of time on the beach but you also find yourself in the water swimming and then something I never expected yoga, something that I took home with me. By the way, {edited for OPSEC reasons} or you will wake up to the roof falling in on you, or at least that’s what I thought was happening and watch were you step running with a busted toe is no fun. In the end it’s un-definably great and served as a big slice of humility.

This testimonial was sent in by Jonathan Leff, a Camp #3 attendee

As I sit here at my house recovering from my physical injuries, I'm starting to realize the permanent effects the camp has had on me. I will look at and understand some things differently. For one, I understand a little more what hard work and sacrifice is. The pain and suffering individuals must go through and the extensive training groups must go through to form a functional team makes more sense to me now after I have completed the camp. And the developmental process of becoming a leader starting with self-mastery and then learning how to think in your follower's perspective, have proper ethics and learning the theories of systems and organizational development is pretty amazing. It boggles my mind when I think of how much there is to learn about leadership and team building. This is good for me because I love to learn and a willingness to learn is the key to many great things in life including transforming oneself into a true leader.

I must recount my story of the SEAL Fit Camp for anybody to understand why I'm talking about leadership and hard work and teamwork.

Before the camp started I tried to forget about all the work I did the past 3 weeks which in normal circumstances would have made anybody tired enough and ready to call it quits. But hell no, I'm training with the Navy Seals so I had to get into a mindset where I forgot about everything I had done up to that point and try to start with a clean slate.

When we started, my memory led me through the first couple of hours of Pre-SOF, which is something I had already participated in the last few weeks. Compared to my fellow teammates, or soon to be teammates, this was a walk in the park for me. All of the Class 3 participants save me and Josh had just that day flown in from around the country and had no idea what was about to be thrown at them. At least I knew I could survive the first 2 hours. And I figured after that I could take whatever was thrown at me over the next 46 hours. Eventually I figured out that this was going to be harder than Pre-SOF but I had already made up in my mind that I wasn't going to quit. However, as soon as I settled this in my mind another challenge presented itself.

I didn't start off as class leader and this didn't disappoint me too much. I just kept on working hard hoping I could eventually earn a leadership role and always kept my goal of honor man in sight. Eventually, a switch in leadership was made and I became the new class leader. Finally, here's my opportunity to show everybody what I'm made of. Well after a little while of enjoying my new position, things started to get rough as it does when you're the leader of a team. I tried my best with the skills I did possess and tried to play to my strengths. But with my lack of sufficient experience in this kind of role, the pressure got to me and for a while I felt like I was losing it and man, did the instructors know it too. They sensed it and harped on it and tried to break me down. I remember specifically where I was and how I felt when this was happening and I'm sure my instructors can attest to that. During these few hours of misery, I learned more about myself than I did during the whole camp. I was stripped down to my bare self and could see what I was really made of. However, I persevered and kept trying to lead the team to the end. Towards the end it was hard to reflect on those moments of misery when I felt as though I would lose it because I was too busy trying not to fall asleep. But now as I sit here day's after the camp, I can really reflect and think about what I actually went through and what it did to me.

Even though this camp wasn't long enough to build a true team as that takes months and years of training, I really feel like I've accomplished something big and I understand a lot more on what it takes to be a leader and what it takes to be apart of a successful team. And now I know if I can do something like the SEAL Fit Camp, then I can do anything life throws at me. I really have that kind of confidence now and if things ever get tough than I can just think back to my suffering during those 48 hours from hell and know that whatever I'm doing can't be as hard as this camp, unless it's Hell Week of course. Anyways, I'm amazed what two days can do for somebody; how someone can be tortured and taught so much within the same two day program. It's really an amazing process and I would like to give every bit of thanks to Mark, Rob, Rory, Ben, and Sarah for planning and running this camp and also for being amazingly professional in what they do. I've never had a coach or instructor as professional as you guys and I just want to thank you guys for everything. Hooyah Class 3!!*
