Does anyone know if this depth perception is disqualifying for BUDs training?? I've been to BUDs before in 2001 and now that im done with college i am going back but this was the first time i've had to do a depth perception test, the test kinda seemed bogus to me though... well just wondering if anyone knows anything about it.. thanks
Bump. I was curious about this as well because I failed the depth perception test. I was told all Aviation jobs were out of the question but what about SOF?
Thanks for the reply. The test took about 15 seconds and the lady didn't allow me to retest. I thought the whole depth perception test was completely bogus. I'm fairly certain my depth perception is fine...

I had the same result and felt the same way. I've had my SO contract for several months now regardless and can only hope it won't cause problems later.

I also failed the depth perception ramdot test, however, went to my eye doctor, did more tests, and had him write a letter saying my depth perception seemed normal, and they sent that letter to MEPS. I now have my SO contract.
Well i took my physical last friday at MEPS and i also had trouble the the depth perception test. During the test the nurse held up a rectangular glasss with 5 black circles in it and i could very easily tell which one of the circles was the odd one. Then i had to put my head up to one of those eye exams where the light lights up, and i could barely tell which one was closer than the others. Well i failed miserably, but what is bothering me is that on my way up to MEPS my recruiter was telling me that i need to make sure that i take the test because i need it for a SEAL contract.
I also wear contacts and glasses. After i took the Depth Perception test i took an eye exam and he had me take out my contacts and obviously i wasnt 20/20 but when he handed me back my folder it said my vision was 20/200 which it isnt. My contact lense pwr is -1.25 which would mean my vision is 20/50. I dont fully understand why it said i was 20/200.
My recruiter pulled strings so that i can take the PST before i get a job for the navy and DEP in, so tomorrow im taking the PST and she is going to send in my results for my vision hoping that i can get a wavier approved based on the fact that i have competetive scores on the PST.
When i got picked up she didnt mention the Depth perception, only my vision. MEPS told my recruiter that my vision didnt quailify me for SEALs.
Does anybody have any advice as to what i should do?
Thankyou in advance
First off Welcome and thank you for using the search feature and putting your question in a old topic pertaining to your question. It helps in keeping answers all in one place for future reference as well as keeps multiple topics from poping up.
K on your question from what I know/ have read a -1 diopter is half visual accuracy so 20/40 ,so yeah a 1.5 diopter is "generally" equivalent to 20/50 unless you have astigmatism. also as I notice my eyes have a hard time readjusting right when I take off my contacts so that could have affected your test. Did you do the depth perception test with or w/o your contacts?
