If you allow the "q" word to slip into your thoughts, it will take over.

While there's nothing wrong in finding out the fate of a quitter, you had better be 100% confident you're not going to quit the moment you leave your doorstep for BUD/S.

Keeping an eye on your exit plan is a guaranteed DOR.
I have not, but.. refer to brassmonkeyboy's post if you plan on challenging me =).

Let me tell you guys a story. I often guide people up mountains and I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people say things like "I always get severe headaches at 10,000 feet" or "I never can get passed 12,000 feet". These are VERY powerful suggestions that your mind will grab onto and they become self fulfilling ... to these people the game is over before we have taken our first step up mountain. When I hear this we immediately go into plan B which is planning on splitting up and taking a group down because these negative suggestions almost always come true.

If you let your mind have an easy out it will take it 100% of the time. If going in you have serious doubts about your chances you are probably wasting your time as you will more than likely fold your tent when things start getting really tough.

Extreme stuff takes a deep burning desire to succeed anything less and your chances of seeing it through will be slim

It was a very basic question and one I am going to presume was based on your posts on the board. It wasn't a challenge. That will be left up to the Moderators and Administrators here.

Got it? Get it? Good!

It's definately beneficial to have a backup plan. I'm going to go to the U.S. Naval Academy. If I were to get dropped from BUD/s, (o's only get one shot at BUD/s) I'd go into Surface Warfare. So it's good to ask yourself the question: what if I don't make it? What will I do in the Navy?

Yet, if you're one of the guys who constantly says, 'what if I quit?' BUD/s will not be fun, and you will probably not last long. You can be in better shape than Ryan Hall, Michael Phelps and the strongest man combined, but when the pain starts getting ramped up, if you don't have that mental desire and commitment to stay when most guys go, you wont make it. Anyone entering BUD/s needs to have the "I'll die before I quit" mindset.

I would think really hard about going to BUD/s. What you're asking isn't a dumb question by any means, you (like many have said before) cannot let it overcome yourself. Anyways, good luck with BUD/s man.
