This website was established and is run by Navy SEALs for the Navy SEAL and greater Special Operations Forces community. In addition, this site welcomes their supporters, those aspiring to join Special Operations Forces and the general public interested in learning more about Special Operations Forces or how to train like them for athletic competitions.
We welcome your interest and support. But we ask that as a new member, you take the time to review this website along with all the FAQs and Stickies in each Forum before posting. You are a guest of the Navy SEAL community for whom these Forums were created, so please remember that and act accordingly. Your reputation starts here.
To help indoctrinate you, we have outlined ten (10) simple Rules of Engagement (ROE). We ask that you honor them when accessing the NavySEALS.com Forums.
1. INTRODUCTIONS
As a courtesy to the members of our community, please introduce yourself with a brief paragraph or two about yourself in the "Your First Post Goes Here!" Forum. Use the following example as a guide:
Hi, my name is Sam, I’m 20 years old, graduating college next year and I am on the school’s swim team.
I have always been interested in serving, and recently met with a Navy recruiter who mentioned opportunities in Naval Special Warfare, including the Navy SEALs. I registered to be a member of this site because I am interested in learning more about Navy SEALs.
DO NOT include your full name, or any other personal information for PERSEC reasons. This will be discussed later.
Finally, if your screen name includes the words “SEAL,” “BUD/s,” “Sniper,” etc. without words like “Wannabe,” “Iwannasucka,” etc. then change your screen name because others have earned that right and you have not.
Failure to comply will result in our providing you a new screen name, or potential termination of your membership.
2. “READ MORE AND POST LESS”
There is a treasure trove of information about the Navy SEALs and other Special Operations Forces available not only on NavySEALS.com, but also on the web and offline (e.g., books, videos, etc.). Many of your questions can be answered by reviewing this website or those sources of information, so please demonstrate that you have the initiative by doing your own research.
The information you will find in the Forums comes from many active, reserve and retired SEALs, along with veterans in the U.S. Armed Forces. “A Veteran – whether active duty, retired, guard or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America,’ for an amount of ‘up to and including my life'.’” It should go without saying that you will treat them with respect.
Failure to do so will result in your membership being terminated and you being permanently banned from this website.
3. SEARCH FIRST AND ASK YOUR QUESTIONS LATER
In the unlikely event that your own independent research has failed to provide an answer to your question, then it is likely that others have had the same question. Therefore, it is almost certain that any question you have has already been asked and answered in one of the Forums, possibly several times. Use the search function (top right hand corner of the Forums), to see if your question topic has already been asked.
When you find answers to your question but you still require greater clarity you may post a response that is on topic within that thread.
In the unlikely event that after you have conducted a search your question remains unanswered, then and only then are you permitted to start a new thread and post a question to the Forums. When posting your question, it would be courteous to include the fact that you conducted a search, but did not find what you were looking for. Just a quick sentence like, “I conducted a search for ‘insect repellent,’ and couldn’t find anything.” That will let us know you took the initiative and did your own research first, thus making a more courteous reply post likely.
Finally, please make sure to post your question to the appropriate Forum. For example, if you have a question about the Workout of the Day (WOD), you would post your question to the “CrossFit” Forum.
Failure to do so will result in a moderator moving your post to the proper location, or deleting it if you are a repeat offender.
4. IF YOU DON’T KNOW THEN DON’T POST.
As a general rule, kindly refrain from responding to the questions posted by other members unless you have particular expertise on the topic being discussed. Before posting your response, check and see if you have included something like “I really don’t know…” or worse, you’re responding to a member specifically asking advice from a SEAL with “I’m not a SEAL, but...”. If your reply post contains any of these,
DO NOT hit the submit button.
Moderators will be swift to delete messages from members that are not qualified to respond.
Repeat offenders will have their membership terminated and will be banned from this website permanently.
5. NavySEALS.com IS A DRAMA FREE ZONE (DFZ)
Once your question is posted, you will receive responses from other members of the community. If you do not like the answer(s) you receive, demonstrate you have the maturity level required to be a member of this site and act accordingly. In particular, if the responses are from a “Been There Done That” (BTDT), an Operator, a Moderator, and/or an Administrator accept it and move on. They are here to help you succeed. If you cannot deal with occasional ridicule, belittlement or attack for asking a dumb question or making an incorrect statement, without becoming defensive by throwing back insults or engaging in a flame war, then chances are you will never make it as a Navy SEAL or a member of any other Special Operations Forces.
The penalty for disobeying this directive is that your membership will be terminated and you will be banned from this website.
6. OBSERVE OPSEC AND PERSEC AT ALL TIMES
It should go without saying that all you should observe Operational Security (OPSEC) and Personal Security (PERSEC) at all times.
To make it clear, we recommend that you not mention current deployments, operational information, techniques, tactics or procedures that are not public knowledge on these Forums. You should also refrain from stating the locations and names of any Navy SEAL or other Special Operations Forces personnel, within these Forums.
DO NOT discuss Tier 1 Special Operations Forces units.
If you read a post that you believe violates this rule, please send a Private Message (PM) to a moderator immediately. They will then investigate the matter further and determine a course of action.
In addition, if you wish to exchange any personal information (e.g., your full name) to another member, you should use the Private Message (PM) feature to exchange such information.
7. SEAL VERIFICATION
At NO time is any member to post a thread requesting verification of a U.S. Navy SEAL. All requests are to be submitted to either an Administrator or a Moderator via an email request. Each case will be reviewed and you will receive a reply to your request via email.
If any member does make a thread or post with this information in it, it will be deleted and your membership will be revoked.
8. THINK
This is last, but certainly not least. Navy SEALs are among the most elite warriors in the world. While they have incredible physical capacity, they also possess enormous mental capacity. You are a guest of this website and of the Navy SEAL community. Think about why you are here. Think about the type of impression you want other members to have about you.
For those of you aspiring to become Navy SEALs, think about why you want to do so. Many want to become a Navy SEAL for all the wrong reasons.
Watch a clip by Don Shipley of Extreme SEAL Experience - http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=afoBIMQzENE, and DOR from BUD/s before Hell Week is over.
Once you have watched Don Shipley's link, click on the following link to view NavySEALS.com SEAL Fit Camp video -

Think about your reasons carefully because becoming an elite solider is not something borne out of a video game. It is about having the desire, determination, drive and never say die attitude to accomplish what you set out to do no matter what obstacles are in the way.
If you succeed, you will be part of the special few who act as the “tip of the spear” defending the United States against its enemies wherever they may threaten its safety and way of life.
This is no video game, it is the real world. And in the real world your reputation starts here!
9. CONDUCT
Every member on this site will be held responsible for their behavior to others. On this site you will treat other members in a respectful and courteous manner. There will be no personal attacks on any member by another.
Failure on your part to comply with this rule will result in your membership being terminated at the IP level.
10. SEALs, MODERATORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND BTDT'S (Been There, Done That)
The above mentioned individuals are on this site to help you succeed with your aspirations of becoming a US Navy SEAL and/or a member of the greater Special Operations Forces community. Every single one of these people volunteer their time here. The time and effort they put into this site is invaluable and it is appreciated. The vast majority of these individuals have been places and accomplished things in their lives that most of us only dream about doing.
They have earned our respect. If you make the choice to be disrespectful to any of these members, your membership will be cancelled immediately. We will not waste our time by requesting an apology from you.
For our supporters, athletes and the general public please think about the sacrifices those who participate on this website either have made, or are willing to make, to protect you from the enemies of your country. They are volunteering their precious time to help provide guidance on this site. Please treat them with the respect they have earned.
We ask that you abide by these simple Rules of Engagement while participating in our Forums.
Being a member of NavySEALs.com is not a right, it is a privilege!
