Talked to my recruiter again today about getting the SEAL Challenge Contract....he said that granted my PRK goes well and I can get that medical waiver, there will be no probelm in other areas, despite my two juvenile alcohol related citations. I hope he's aware that when I go to MEPS, if they tell me I'm not qualified for the SEAL Challenge Contract for reasons other than the PRK, I am coming right back home and tellin him thanks for lettin me waste $3000 dollars. (in not so kind words) I hate to say this, but I'm really not sure I can count on this guy...

I have no clue what a PRK is....but it also sounds like its too late to find a new recruiter, cause thats what I would do. Goodluck

I am referring to surgery to correct my eyesight. No, it isn't to late to find a new recruiter I don't think. I haven't signed anything

Hey Kyle, Hold strong when you go to MEPS and tell them you won't sign unless SEAL is in the contract. Many guys who want a Ranger contract or Airborne in the Army have to leave and then they get called back cause a spot mysteriously opened up. Not a BTDT but these posts are all over Army Ranger.com
If you haven't signed anything I can't see how you entered in a contract or a agreement of commtment with your recruiter.

Kyle,

I don't know about the MIP's, but on the eyes you should be good to go. I had LASIK surgery (which wasn't as readily accepted) and the only difference was I had to go to MEPS twice. First time, physical and all the normal stuff but denied because of the surgery. Submit a waiver that day, and was accepted next week. Come back in a second time to negotiate the contract, sign and get a ship date.

There was no problems at all. The Chief Recruiter said that they are still running a study to see if LASIK can stand up to the requirements of BUD/S and that to get in I had to participate in the study. I hope it doesn't affect my "grayman" status, but otherwise isn't a concern.

I'm honestly not to concerned about having PRK and getting the waiver. I am much more concerned about my non-traffic juvenile citations...one for underage drinking and one for POA. Really hope that doesn't create a problem. But in my opinion there's no barrier that can't be broken. Whatever it takes to get to BUD/S!
