Find an indoor pool in your area, YMCA, Local Gyms etc, and try to use those. I would check out the YMCA.

Yes they do however, If your are signed up to come into the navy talk to your recruiter and get yourself a DEP card. Take that to the YMCA and you may get yourself a few months free. All Y's are different it may be hit and miss. Also Ask your recruiter if there is a gym that sponsers the navy(some recruits are required to lose a few pounds or Body fat % before they come to boot) these are available to them. Is there a military base near you? Your recruiter may be able to set something up for you to use those facilities especially if you have a DEP card.

Some places have this thing called winter, and during winter they drain the pool, so it doesn't freeze. No water = Pool is closed.

PS sorry about the sarcasm

I would do what you can if you cant swim then do every thing else dont just start sitting around cause the pool is closed. Ride a bike for double the time you would swim. Yeah riding indoors sucks but it will keep you in relative shape.

Strange that you can't view it. That page is about swimming replacements for the warning order and excercises to strengthen the swimming muscles. I'll mention some of the workouts on there.
Flutterkicks: Lift both legs 6 inches off the ground then bring one up about 3 or 4 feet, lower it and raise the other. This is a four count excersie, count it like this 1,2,3;1 or L,R,L,R = one set.
Leglifts: Lift both legs 6 inches off the ground and raise them both 3 or 4 feet then bring them back down.
The surfer workout: http://www.surfflex.com/bsbworkout2.htm
This workout is in 3 different section containing a different excersie for different things for when your surfing. Even though you are not sufing, the paddle out excercise can help you build some up body strenght for swimming.
Keep in mind these excerises just help strengthen the muscle groups used in swimming and is not the real thing. You still need to get into pool and swim because there is no replacement for the real thing.

If you do join the swim team your expected to win so i would get with your coach and buy a book on weight lifting for swimmers cause muscle mass for most competitive swimmers is there worst nightmare. Usually 12 to 15 reps though.

exactly more wieight to the body from muscle. If your doing the swim team just swim as your ONLY excersize. If you wanna be a SEAL then yeah sure your gonna wanna do pushups and situps.

Yeah when I was on swim team I benched more than anyone on the team, but I was only an average varsity guy, the best guys on the team were twice as fast as me, but they were built like twigs. The chubby guys were fast too, they float better. But yeah, just go to every practice and do your calistenics or weightlifting. Dont chew off more than you can handle though, I tried doing weightlifting during school, swim team after, and then calestenics and running after swim team. That didnt last too long and I had to cut back, so pace yourself.
