I have a question about having a car. I'm just wondering if I'll have to put it in storage or if i will be able to bring it with me. I live in Michigan and getting it to Great Lakes is no biggy (for A school), but what about BUD/S? Do they allow you to have a car? Do you even get time off to be able to use one? I read that phase 3 was 7 days per week, but what about phases 1 and 2, do you get time off that you could even use a car?

As far as having a car at BUDS i cant help you, but up here in Glakes you can have a car but it also depends on your A school length. IT ET FC are fairly long, some of the shorter schools students do not get to have a car. Phase 1 lib up here you are not authorized to have or ride in a POV, cannot consume alcohol(whether or not your of age) and you do not have civilian clothe priveleges and you have to report to your respective BEQ at 2145 even on weekends. Phase 2 lib you can ride in a POV with an approved chit, consumed alcohol(provided you are of age) and that its at least 8 hours prior to school or duty, you have civilian clothes priveleges and cinderella liberty only on weekends. Phase 3 lib is you pretty much come and go as you please as long as you are fit for duty and on time for all evolutions. The time limit to each level of liberty varies from school house to school house some you can get phase 3 in as little as 21 days, other school houses like my own it takes a bit longer.

Cars are allowed at BUD/S. You will get time off in Indoc and Phase to use a car to get around town. Some guys will have a car, some won't.

They pay you a **** ton of money if you drive (1200 bux from VA) and give you a leave-free 8 days travel. As far as shipping it, your on your own there. The Navy only pays for shipping if its overseas.

Goes from your last duty station to your new duty station. When I "got out' they paid me from NY to Colo Spngs, my Home of record. I stayed in NY. However, it sure as H wasn't $1200. Seems to me it was about $200.LOL Was in 69.
