I leave November 2nd. I'm going to A school for HT. I tried to get it changed to GM but I would've had to have waited until next year to leave. F that...I wanna get this show on the road.

IT is a very good rate, I think you will be pleased with your A school. As for GM I worked very closely with GM's on my ship. I consider myself a GM in an FC body:) All of you who will be up here with the next year well...I guess I will see you at 0300 Mon Wed and Fri. Make sure you are Healthy when you get here!!!!

From what you know about working with the GM's on the ship, do they enjoy there rate? Im asking this cause ive been hearing from alot of people that most GM's hate it and want to do something else. Everyone i know seems to think the rate sucks, but none of them actually are GM's. And also ive been hearing that it is hard to make rank as a GM. Is this true? just a few questions so if anyone knows i would be very thankfull. thanks

As a GM you will maintain and operate a myriad of weapons systems, we will use mine for example. The MK 45 Light wieght gun mount, I operated the radar that guided the weapon while the GMs operated the gun itself. You will also be required to be a weapon specialist with all the small arms on the ship ie 9mm 12 ga M14 M16 M60 50. cal Mk19 25mm(you will have to know how to operate and maintain these weapons as well) When others are required to qualify at tht Gun range you will be the one to teach them as a Line Coach. If this kind of work appeals to you this GM may be worth a shot. Now I will tell you that GM rate is pretty tight right now as far as advancement goes. It may be better after a few years, but as for now it will be very competitive to make rank. Talk to your recruiter about what jobs are advancement friendly. Some rates are advancement friendly, but would you enjoy doing them?
