Hey everybody,
I am just a little confused about the whole BUD/s application proccess. I was reading a thread about Kerry increasing the so Called "Special Forces" and someone in the thread said, that may just mean they will increase the amount of applicants allowed into BUD/s. Now, what I am confused about is, do the like put you name in a hat and randomly pull some out and say, they are going to BUD/s? Because if you pass the PST and you are enlisted under a SEAL challange contract, arnt (I know thats not a word) you guaranteed a spot into BUD/s? If anyone can inform me about this it would be greatly appreiciated.
Thanks alot,

You have both sides right...

there are two ways to get in as I understand it, the first, and easiest way, is the challenge contract. With the contract, you are guaranteed a spot in BUD/S after A-school. The other route is to enlist, and have been a regular sailor for a while in the navy, and then submit a BUD/S package some time during your tour of duty. That leaves open the option for them to turn down your package. From what I hear, it can take like 2 years after you first submit the package and start poking people to get you into BUD/S.

If anyone out there knows any better, feel free to chime in, but this is how I understand it.
