Hey Matt,
Im in 53 too and Im out in Coronado right now. Dont know if u heard but we got pushed back so we dont start Indoc till September 13, so you'll be scruffin for bout 3 weeks or so. Its really not bad, we got two duty sections right now, but we're expectin to move up to 3, maybe 4, by the time everyone gets out here. Usually stand one (two max) five hour watches a day on your duty day, and muster once or twice to clean, so even on duty days u have a lot of free time. No organized PT as of yet but plenty of time to get together with friends and PT on ur own. The beaches are awesome, great to do soft sand runs on the civilian beaches and enjoy the scenery (god the beach boys were right bout the california girls). Food at the galley is kinda bland but more plentiful than usual (esp in the BUD/S line), so that works. You should be out here just in time for 52s hell week (or it might be the week after you get here, im confused on that point at the moment), they are gettin their butts seriously kicked right now. They currently have the record for most DORs in the first week of first phase (45 or somewhere there bouts) and we're gunna have a big *** class (round 200) so the odds are we will be gettin more than our fair share of beatins so the instructors dont take any flack bout goin too easy (51 had like 73 guys make it through hell week and the instructors caught crap for it so they went extra hard on 52 and arent likely to let it happen again), but as of right now they pretty much leave you alone as long as ur not late for watch or muster (we're havin a problem with that at the moment, but from what I hear all classes do at first). If your flyin out here I can get you the number to the quarterdeck if u want and you can call from the airport and Im pretty sure the duty driver can come out and pick you up so u dont gotta pay the $10-15 for a cab. Ill be checkin in on here over the next few days when im not busy, so if you have any questions of if theres anythin I can do to help dont be afraid to ask.

Hey man, Hell yeah thanks for the tips. I heard about the class being pushed back, I'm just stoked to get down there, I am from so cal and cant wait to get back. We have been hearing about 52 from our dive motivator out here in V. beach, sucks for them man, but we'll have fun too in the cold and the strong ocean. 200 people is insane!, probably a lot guys who are not prepared though, so hopefully they weed out pretty quickly. I am going to drive down to Coronado, I live in L.A., so I am taking a few leave days before I report, I have to, I just graduated"A" school today and I need at least a little break. Hey man I will see you down there, there are a lot of good guys already there who came fromo my Dive Motivator station so I am looking forward to hooking back up with those guys and hopefully we both make it till the end, I am sure we will meet up eventually, so I will see you down the line....post me back, let me know if its cool to drive and what I should bring down there and where I should report!, I barely got my orders last Friday so this is all happening pretty damn fast!....
