I dont know if you boys know this, so here goes....

I have just signed up and gotten my ship date for Boot Camp. As one of my guarantees, I asked for something called the "Loan Repayment Program," which I found out about while doing research. Basically, if your job rating qualifies for it, THE NAVY WILL PAY FOR YOUR SCHOOL LOANS UP TO $65,OOO AFTER ONE YEAR'S SERVICE!

Yes, thats right...

So, for you guys who, like me, went to college before going in and have 20-30 grand in school loans, now you dont have to use your bonuses to pay them off! Its a great deal, so ask about it---- belay that---- find out if your job qualifies for it--- and request it! I got $19,000 worth of bonuses PLUS that Loan Repayment Guarantee, all on top of my SEAL Challenge Contract.

The Challenge Contract does qualify for it, but if you want to make sure that you dont lose it if you dont finish BUD/S, try to pick a rating that also qualifies for it.

which rating did you choose? I have a degree in IT so i find it fitting to try for that rating. Also, thanks for this info. Do you happen to know if they'll pay off the loan if it's not all mine? My loans are set up that my parents pay half and I pay half. Do you know if they'll pay my parents half too? Do you also know if they give you the money or do they give your lender the money?

Any frogs know anything about this. It wasn't around when I enlisted but now I'm at a team so if its still a possibility I'm interested.

Heres the Link to CLRP (College Loan Repayment Program)

I'm pretty sure they pay back parents loans (PLUS Loans)

They'll be paying 65,000 of my 66,000 loans :)

Signing the SEAL contract as an HM on Monday!

sounds good, only problem is...I'm already in. Hmmm. Maybe I'll give the old congressman a call.

TH,
I read up on the Repayment program and it says it is for active enlisted with no prior service. Unless I'm reading this wrong I assume you have to do it on your first enlistment. I'm looking into it right now. I'll post the out come.
