You obviously don't deserve the apology I gave you ,it is retracted and by the looks of your posts you cannot put a coherent sentence together. Did you attend one of those schools were the teachers said the world owed you something no matter how you acted? Go to your room and disconnect your daddy's computer before he finds out how dumb you are. You are out.

Look Oskater, there are somethings you usually don't ask because really it doesn't matter. What I think Stoner's saying you join the Teams because that's what you want more than anything. The money (which is decent Navy pay) is just icing on the cake. But I would have to agree with Stoner if all you want a high paying job, then go somewhere else.

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE W/ STONER AND MAC. I AM NOT A SEAL BUT I AM GOING INTO THE NAVY. I WILL SIGN MY SEAL CHALLENGE CONTRACT BECAUSE I WANT TO BE A SEAL, NOT FOR THE MONEY. IF IT WAS ABOUT MONEY I WOULD KEEP MY 60,000 + JOB. MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING, HONOR, PATRIOTISM,CONVICTION, INTEGRITY ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT. AT LEAST TO ME..
PS. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW A STONER IS A STONER SR-25 TACTICAL SNIPER RIFLE 7.62 X 39. IT IS A HELL OF A WEAPON USED BY POLICE ESU AND SWAT TEAMS THROUGHOUT THE U.S. A HIGHLY EFFECTIVE AND ACCURATE WEAPONS WHEN IN SKILLED HANDS.

I thought a stoner was a machine gun used in Vietnam?

IT WAS USED IN VIETNAM, I THINK IT WAS USED IN AS A SNIPER SUPPORT WEAPON. THAT MEANS THAT THE SPOTTER WOULD USE IT TO PROVIDE COVER AND PROTECTION FOR THE SNIPER. ALSO IN THE CASE THE SNIPER WAS SHOT OR KILLED, THE SPOTTER HAD A WEAPON THAT WAS EQUALLY GOOD AT GIVING COVER FIRE AND ALSO FOR LONG RANGE SHOTS. WHEN THE WEAPON IS OUTFITTED WITH A MATCH TRIGGER AND BARREL , IT IS QUITE A FROMIDABLE SNIPER RIFLE. I WILL RESEARCH IT MORE AND LET YOU KNOW.

THE STONER SR-25 IS ACTUALLY A M16 MODIFIED TO FIRE A 7.62 X 51MM NATO CARTRIDGE. IT MAIN PURPOSE IN LIFE WAS AS A SUPPORT WEAPON FOR SNIPER TEAMS, THE SECOND MAN USING IT FOR LOCAL DEFENSE BUT HAVING SUFFICIENT ACCURACY TO STAND IN FOR THE SNIPER SHOULD SOME ACCIDENT BEFALL HIM OR HIS WEAPON. IT IS CERTAINLY DESIGNED FOR ACCURACY, WITH A FREE FLOATING BARREL AND WITH THE BIPOD ATTACHED TO FORE-END AND THE FORE-END ATTACHED ONLY TO THE RECIEVER SO AS NOT TO PLACE ANY STRAIN ON THE BARREL. THE RECIEVER IS A FLAT TOP DESIGN TO WHICH THE USER CAN APPLY MANY OPTIONS, FROM A CARRYING HANDLE TO MOST SOPHISTICATED NIGHT VISION SIGHTS. TEST SHOW THAT THIS RIFLE CAN CONSISTENTLY PUT ALL SHOTS INTO A 19MM CIRCLE AT 100M RANGE. IT WENT INTO PRODUCTION IN 1992, THEREFORE IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN USED IN VIETNAM. SORRY, ABOUT THE BAD INFO FROM YESTERDAY I WAS TRYING TO DO IT BY MEMORY I HAD TO BRUSH UP.
LENGTH 46.25 IN
WEIGHT 10LB 12OZ
BARREL 20.0 IN
RIFLING 4 GROOVES RIGHT HAND
MAGAZINE CAPACITY 10 OR 20 ROUNDS
PRODUCTION 1992 -

From TommyAtkins! It was used as a sniper-support weapon n it was designed by a team that knew who we were up against in 'Charlie' country! The 'ammo' it used/uses is 'Warsaw pact' standard issue for 'AK-47's/derivatives n 'PPK' a rifle similar to the M-14 in action but not caliber!!! 7.62x39mm is the standard round for the people's Army of Communist China as well as the former Soviet Republic's n their allies! Sorry 2 go on 4 so long!
If any1 get's a thorn in their flesh about this matter, contact me TommyAtkins@navyseals.com or snaijper_bih@hotmail.com or out-of uniform-usa@email.com n 'yes' I am a sniper but these days prefer a 12,7x99mm round frm a semi-auto or single action-bolt loaded weapon!!!

TommyAtkins......Good description you seem to have some solid knowledge. I used a lighter more modified version for some dirty ops. Indian Ocean ,Bering Straits ,etc. Were you Government Issue or did you work for some of the Company Men?

THE STONER SR-25 IS ACTUALLY A M16 MODIFIED TO FIRE A 7.62 X 51MM NATO CARTRIDGE.
not exactly. the SR-25 is a semi automatic sniper weapon designed by Eugene Stoner based of two of his previous designs, the Armalite AR15 and the Armalite AR10. The AR15 is actually in many ways an AR10 scaled down to fire the 5.56x45mm NATO round.
The chambering for the SR25 has already been addressed. The SR25 had some initial problems with quality however from what I understand the most recent variant ( I believe the military designation is MK11 Mod 0 ) has shown to be a superb sniper's weapon for situations requiring higher rates of precision fire than a bolt action can deliver.

I'm gonna be a tad off subject. Why do guns have tracer rounds? Probally a dumb question and I just don't get it. Tracers give away your position. The only thing I can think useful is you can see exactly where you're shooting?

Bingo.
One of the more interesting things I've heard is that 1st Cav's LRRP/Ranger Company in Vietnam used to use nothing but tracer ammo. Their thinking was that you'd have to be one brave or crazy SOB to attack into a wall of tracer ammo comin at you during a contact drill.

Is that the light fifty you are talking about, the 12,7mm sniper rifle named AG90 in Sweden??
If so, do you have any good insights in how I can conceal the faint humming of the IRsight??
It`s not likly to be heard, but if you have any toughts in the matter i would apriciate the help.

Dude. If you want money, get a job in the civilian world. SEALs don't make **** as far as salaries go, and that's the whole point. If you want more info on it, go to www.navy.mil and do a little searching.
Stop wasting these guys' time. If you're serious about the SEALs, take a look at the screening test and drop down for 50 pushups. By the time you're done, you'll have forgotten all about the money. If not, find another career.

ok Listen im putting an end to this .... Navy SEALs are well off... they make nice pay. there i said it hahaha
listen up you don't join the military for the money just for the pure passion you have for it. I live in Belgium i'm only 17 but in 3 years I'm gone join the belgium paracomando's and after 4 years I'm gone join the special forces in belgium. I'm not gone do it for the money but just for the pride of beeing one of the best that our country has to offer

Ha, you guys are funny. You'll make pretty good money, with all the extra pay. I'm sorry all these people had to immediately judge you for asking such a simple question. Money depends on rank and other special things too but you certainly won't be scrambling to pay bills. I live in Japan so I make 750 a month just for doing a regular job. And that's all spending money.

Petty Officer Mosher, it also depends on how good you are at money management, your family size and if you are married or have children. We do pretty well ourselves in a high cost, but not high enough to qualify for an INCONUS COLA, area because we have two incomes. The families who have one income or poor money management skills are always in trouble. In other words, its not the pay, its what you make of it.

I agree. I know I have a little biased opinion considering I'm single and make an extra 250 in COLA. I understand its much more difficult raising a family.

Dan Mosher
