Now that cross country is over at my school, i find it real hard to get out to a track by myself. So i thought about the navy rotc. I read on one of there websites that you must pass a few physical/mental tests. Then you can move on to a more advanced group of training( mechanical engineer, traffic control, seals, etc.) Can anyone verify this? Im just afraid that i join te navy sea cadets, and it is a little to easy, or not enough running, maybe i should go for the army rotc?

Your probably talking about College ROTC. But ill tell you this anyways. I was in two different types of ROTC in high school, first was Air Force, and the second was ARMY. Air Force was all book smarts. ARMY was mostly D&C, land nav, basically more physical. Which is basically how they are in the military anyways so I dont know how well it carries over to the College level but I do know they have PT tests.. I think they are quaterly. maybe someone who's been through it can help you better.

Peace ouT!

It depends on the division. At ours, the running was not intense at ALL. I had to take an academic leave of absensce so I could concentrate on my school work, and when I returned I could still keep up with the fastest there.

On the other hand, you may come across divisions with very high PT standards, who have to pass PT tests to stay in the program. If you are looking for a challenging fitness routine however, you will have to do that in your own free time, do not count on the NAVAL Sea Cadet Corps to do it for you.

NAVAL, NAVAL, NAVAL, not Navy.

Keep in mind there are SCUBA, SEAL, Marine Ground Tactics, amongst other TWTs, (Two Week Trainings) that give you some exposure to different aspects of the Navy and Marine Corps. There is also amphibious warfare, corpsman, and others. It's a good program.
