Ok,I have read up some on the UK Special Boat Service.. I really do not know much about them.. Are they more unless British SEALs? The only thing I really know about UK Special Forces is that our Delta Force units were formed from the SAS units.. Any inputs would be great..

God bless

The SBS is, if it's possible!, even more secretive than the SAS. I can tell you their base is in Poole, Dorset. I can tell you that the SBS is NOT formed from the Royal Navy but from the Royal Marines - the Navy has no version of SEALs. Apart from that, not much. You could try searching on the net; you may get lucky.
Delta wasn't formed from the SAS, its structure was adapted from the SAS - slight difference.

It is defenatly possible, "The Regiment" has had acouple of authors amongst their ranks who have given the basic structure of the regiment away. (no classified things ofcourse)
Starting with Andy McNab, "Bravo two zero".
SBS have had one to, donīt remember the name right now but heīs quite a good writer (imho)..

The SBS is an unit that does infils by boat or (sub), they are at the "same" level as "The Regiment" in basic warfare.
They are experts at doing seaborne infils, not much demo work though if Iīm correctly informed.

Correct information.

Um... That's exactly what I stated.. Formed meaning we learned the style of the SAS and started similar training. Then recruited only the best from our own military...
I still believe SAS would be harder to get into then SBS.. I could be wrong, but SAS is like Delta.. Almost impossible..

Sis, I was under the impression that RM Poole had closed and the SBS had moved to Whale Island ... I could be wrong ... :) A little bird told me ...

Interesting ... and what do you base this belief on exactly?

Suggestion: Try reading First Into Action by Duncan Falconer - formerly of Her Majesty's Royal Marines.

It's easy to sit at one's computer and spout off about this unit's better then that unit ... it's like saying the SEALs are better than Delta ... it's all relative. At the end of the day you have highly motivated, highly trained, extremely resourceful, exceptional professional soldiers who could give a rat's arse about what some web warrior thinks about them. Let's take a moment now to thank all of them for their service.

I think you took what I said the wrong way or either you woke up on the wrong side of the cannon..... I have read up on SAS and a little on the Delta Force unit... Also know it's increadbly hard to get in.

It's easy to sit at one's computer and spout off about this unit's better then that unit ...

In noway did I state that SAS was better then SBS. I simply said I feel it would be harder to get into SAS then SBS. I absolutly did not say "SAS is better then SBS,or SEALs are better then Delta Force units." You made that comment on your own.
They all serve their own purposes. In which I respect that.

At the end of the day you have highly motivated, highly trained, extremely resourceful, exceptional professional soldiers who could give a rat's arse about what some web warrior thinks about them. Let's take a moment now to thank all of them for their service.

Second of all I did not criticize any members excercises or training. I simply stated a opinion just as you have done..

Third of all I could give a rat's arse what criticism you think of next to spout at me. In noway did I put down any units,I just simply said I feel that SAS training would be harder.,cause I know of their intense training and the respect they have for being a highly elite unit. So if I offended you,my regards...

Also Ammo if you read what I said on my earlier post.. I also stated this:

I still believe SAS would be harder to get into then SBS.. I could be wrong, but SAS is like Delta.. Almost impossible..

I cleary stated I could be wrong, all I did was make a opinion... You and your ammo have blown this topic out of proportion....

Good Luck to you and God Bless.

I believe that SBS soldiers go through a swim test, a canoe test, and then must show confidence and willingness to dive in several dives. After that they go to the joint SAS/SBS selection course. It might also be worth mentioning that the SBS has less personell than the SAS. Well that's what I read on SpecialOperations.com anyways. If it's wrong let me know!

the SBS had moved to Whale Island

Well, there you go then! Shows how secretive they are - Whale Island is just down the road from me and I didn't know they were there. Time to go break out the binoculars and do some scouting ....

Someone I used to work with said her husband tried to get into the SBS once - she mentioned he was tied naked to a tree all night. Whether he told her the exact truth, and whether she passed that on to me .. I couldn't say. I don't know. Just thought I'd pass it on. But it seems the kind of 'strange' things they do to prove someone's toughness factor.

Untill the year 2000 they were still in Poole.
That is hardcore first hand fact.

Wannabe>>> You might be correct, I didnīt know about the diving before selection though..

I know ... LOL Kind of made me grin ... just a little bit ...:D

Straight from the horse's mouth Romulus, old chap! <img src="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/sloppy.gif"> I think they were planning to move in summer 2000 as there was talk of RM Poole closing (MOD cutbacks - unfortunately the RMs get the thin slice of the wedge insofar as the defence budget being divvied up ...) ... so you would be perfectly accurate. I know that AWM-F lives very near to Whale Island, so just had to mention it - she's probably sitting at her window with binoculars as we speak ...

And now I've been slapped about, I shall consider myself told and depart for the Gun Show!!!!! Can I pick anyone up anything while I'm there?

I am SO jealous!

Saw a lovely Browning .50 yesterday that had my name on it - unfortunately, the price tag didn't match our bank balance ... Also saw a nice upper for my M4, but it was pre ban and my lower is post ban, anyway, I think I want to order it direct from Bushmaster so I can be sure of the quality. ( I DO love a Bushy ...)

You didn't sound aggressive, I just hated the idea of offending you. I was in no way questioning your knowledge. And it wasn't YOU who slapped me about (perish the thought! but someone thought they did! LOL)

Anyway, there was also talk of moving the SBS, kit and kaboodle, to Hereford so that Special Forces were all under the same roof, so to speak. Silly idea really, moving them that far from the fleet and any large body of water ... (as an aside, the SAS are no longer at Stirling Lines either, but you already know that, I'm sure ...)

Kind of hope that RM Poole didn't close, I have fond memories of the place and Poole harbour was lovely and cold and murky for the boys to play in ...

Hey, sorry to cut in here, but where did the SAS go. I heard of them moving before hand, but can't remember where it was, not to mention the fact that it could have been rumor.
Romulus, have you ever cross trained with the NZSAS (my countrys unit :) ) or SASR? I've always wanted to know what people think about them, but I've never heard of anyone who has trained with them before.
Ammo, could you pick me up a Browning High Power :) just joking, but that would be fun.
Thanks,

Ice Heart

Thatīs the great thing about being in the service...(you donīt pay for your weapons, or the obscene amounts of "Ammo").
"No pun intended" ;-)
