Can anybody tell me more about the Marines Direct Action Platoons. Ive read a little bit on some other sites and I think that they are attached to Force Recon. But I was wondering if anybody else has more info. I dont want to start a "whos better" fight but on specialoperations.com site it said that the DAPs were taking over for the SEALs as the Maritime Special Operations Force or somthing of that nature. Thanks

The DAP. is for IHR. The Platoon is a Recon asset along with R&S.

I don't know what post you are refering to on Specialoperations.com. List it for me and I will tell you. As of right now I don't know what post you are talking about.

Well DAP is sort of self explanatory. Specific operational capabilities are on a need to know basis.Join the Marines after youve taken the ASVAB,go in the Infantry take the Indoc for Recon and get selected for Bn.This is the path you must take to get the info you desire. Check out the FR Assoc web site there is a little more detail there that isnt OPSEC.

Thanks SGTROCK and reconjhonnie. Reconjohnnie it wasn't on any of the posts it was on the actual website. Go to United States Special Operations on the left of the hompage then Units then Marine Corps Special Ooperations Cabable Units then scroll down to Direct Action Platoon, I think its on the right side of the page. Thanks again
