View Full Version : i need a story boost
ok im am going to atleast try for BUDS. however i am one of those people who never made the big things in life. Im talking aobut a team football and 1st string and a significantly good soccer team. I know im smaller and maybe even weaker tahn most people so waht makes me able to make the seals and they not.? there are better runners who can do pull ups and swimmers who can swim fifty meters. but me i am nothing special. were there any seals who felt like this before they joined or where you all scholership athletes?

Come on buddy, keep on smiling. Keep your head up and shoulders back even when life is at it's worst... besides, it's times like those that we learn the most from. I'm a mere 16 years of age, however your attitude was all to familiar to me up until a few years back. The truth is you can and WILL be anything you want to be. I'd say if you can meet the PT screen test... if you want it bad enough you'll make it. From all of the people I've talked to, not one said it took physical strength for the majority of it. They all said it took heart, that cold water breaking over your head won't slow down when the Ronnie Colemans of the training flex their guns, and surf torture is said to be the worst thing of BUD/S (well, the overall cold anyways). I wouldn't know from experience, so all SEALS/BUD/S trainees - please jump in if I'm wrong.
Stick with it bud.
P.S. - Think about all the great stories you've heard growing up of a true story where someone was smaller and told by all his/her peers they were nothing, but then grew up to be greater than those others ever were? If there haven't been people who made it to the teams who feel like you do (which I'm sure there are), then you can and will be the first, all it takes is dedication.
God Bless

P.P.S. - You remind me of myself just a tidbit slimmer. You're 16 you say? You might go through BUD/S around the same time I do. Drop me an email if you like and i'll let you know what i'm doing to train.

Keep your focus
All the big football players with big egos are the guys who quit during BUD/S. Football, soccer, etc. have nothing to do with being a SEAL, so dont worry about it. You need to have the mental discipline to dish out whatever they throw at you. Physical strength is very important too, but not as much as mental strength...
Samo,
If I'm not mistaken, the most decorated soldier in WW2 was a small man. In fact he tried to join the USMC and was rejected. His name was Audie Murphy.
You can do whatever you want IF you want it bad enough. Your body will do things you never thought possible as long as you don't allow yourself the luxury of giving up. Remember, you can ALWAYS take one more step..........

I don't know from exp. but Doug if my theory is correct, you are 100% just that. If you go through life being the toughest dude in town, then you dont have to put up with anything, everyone kisses your bum. It's the smaller guys (im not small but i'm skinny!) who have to live with more therefor condition their mind. We're the tough ones not the guy next door who sticks a needle in his butt every night to look good. Keep your head high bud, like Doug said, he was small when he went through to the teams. But the attitude that you're nothing special will get you where? In the gutter... you are special bro and its the heart that counts, not how many ripples you have under your nipple (shakespear to be thank you very much). BUT DONT SLACK ON PT! maybe we'll get to go to BUD/S together... you never know.
God Bless
thanks everyone for the help iv been rather unsure of myself and fairly insecure due to the fact that i havent exactly hit the high points in being an athlete. however i now am confident my dreams of being a seal will come true one day and childofgod id be honored to go to BUD/s training with you. I forget who said it about motivation but they were right about not needing music just the will to succeed and become the best i can possibly be. Id like to thank everyone on this board and this site for helping me make the right decision. thank you
