I'm a senior in high school and I'm really considering going to the USNA. I understand that it is extremely selective and difficult to get into. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about doing this(other than go to usna.edu and follow their instructions, I've already done that)? Has anyone been that has comments on it? Also, could someone tell me about my options of going into the USMC after graduation? I'd like to be a SEAL, but I'm from Memphis,TN and we don't exactly have an ocean that I can train in so I'm doubting my ocean-swimming abilities. I'm working on the SEAL training regimen and was wondering is thats a fairly accurate training program? Thank you. God Bless.

I'm a junior in highschool and have read many books about the SEALs and SEAL training. Stew Smith, a former SEAL and graduate of USNA has a book titled "The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness" It has lots of advice for future SEALS who are just starting to get into shape. According to the book, if you can ride a bike for twice as long as you would swim, it would help. But try to swim any time you can in a city pool or a nieghbors. I'm looking to go to USNA also and would recomeend that you have a GPA of over 4.0. Also, try going to the summer seminar at USNA. For more info about it, go to usna.edu. Going to USNA and becoming a SEAL is a lot of hard work, but people have done it before and people will do it again. Being a SEAL officer is well worth the time and effort.
P.S. Stew Smith also recommed going to a college if you don't get in to USNA and then enlisting under the SEAL contract and completing BUD/S,(no small task). Then afterwards, go to OCS and be commissioned as a Ensign. OCS will probably accept an enlisted SEAL more than they would accept any other navy enlisted man.
