There has been two documentaries on the ancient Greek Spartans on TV lately. I see striking similarities between the Spartans and todays Navy SEALs. Does anyone know if there is any research literature available that compares the two?

Honestly wouldn't think so, but if you feel it's worth a thesis, go for it. Let us know what conclusions you come to.

First comment is this: we don't encourage homosexuality within the ranks like the Spartans did! Their warrior mindset and discipline were examples to be followed, though.
