I've gotten several different answers on this and was hoping that someone could clear it up. For an officer in the SEALs, who has gone to OCS, how long is the obligatory service to the teams? I've heard everything from 36 months following completion of BUDS to 8 years.

Thank you so much...I appreciate some clarity on this issue.

Well, I think it depends on whether you go to BUD/s as an officer, or go to OCS as a SEAL.

In my husband's case, he owed four years after completing OCS (he was already a SEAL).

I was told recently by a recruiter that if I were to go to OCS straight out of college and get accepted to BUD/S, I would be required to serve 4 yrs afterwards. Then again, he also told me PRK was NOT being accepted at all any longer until I badgered him some and he looked it up, then gave me a roundabout answer. If a real SEAL has definitive information on both these topics it would be greatly appreciated.

On another interesting note, he also told me that no one who has ever tried at his facility (Chicago area) has EVER passed all of the "minimum physical requirements for officers" of the swim in 8:30, 100 sit-ups/push-ups, 20 pull-ups, and run in 9:00. Any Chicagoland SEALS done that lately?
