Hello everybody, I'm just starting my sophomore year of high school and have wanted to be a SEAL since junior high (you know, the usual story), but unfortunately I feel like I'm the only person that wants me to be a SEAL. I've talked to my parents about joining the Navy before, which they said if I end up doing I WILL be an officer and I WILL go to college. Unfortunately, my will has nothing to do with their will. Personally, I think enlisting is the way for me. I tryed joining the Naval Sea Cadet Core, but unfortunately, I didn't have the time to be dedicated to it and had to drop it. My parents expect alot from me :-( and I'm taking the hardest classes possible, and as many sports as I can ever fit in. They think I've forgotten about the Navy, but they're much wrong. I have been training every summer, calisthenics, running, a bit of weightlifting, but no swimming, no real access, no high school pool. During the school season I pretty much rely on sports to keep in shape and fit in some calisthenics here and there. I currently do wrestling, soccer, and lacrosse. But anyway, the real problem. My only desire is to enlist in the SEAL challenge contract and go to BUD/S as prepared as humanly possible and with a mind set that I have nothing to go home to if I quit. I don't know what to tell my parents, they're obsessed with my being an engineer and maknig money, etc. If possible, I'd like to go to a college (not the Naval Academy, I'm bent on enlisting) that could possibly help my joining the Navy, you know, something that could make me more prepared to be a Seaman and recruit at BUD/S. So, if you could reccomend a college like that that exists, or possibly give me some advice with my parents, it would be much obliged. Sorry for the length of the post, but Thanks Frogmen!
