I know you most likely have to go through basic training, but then do you have to go on reserve, then active, the onto airborne, or can you go right into airborne after basic training.

Im 16 and i plan on getting my degree before going into the army, so i can enter as an officer.

Planning on becoming an Airborne Paratrooper hopefully for 101st, and my friend Josh is in the 82nd but i havent been able to ask him questions since i havent seen him since he went into the army last year.

Thanx

Basic, AIT, Jump School. In that order.
AIT is Advanced Individual Training, or your MOS (Infantry, Military Police, Cook or whatever occupation you choose and quailify for).

82nd is on Ft. Bragg, NC. Good post when you're off duty... so long as you have transportation.

there are only two units in the 101 that are Airborne units, Division LRSD and Pathfinders; everyone else is 'Dope On A Rope' ( Air Assault )
there are however two other lesser known Airborne units in the Army, the 173d in Vincenza, Italy, and an Airborne Bn or Bde ( I forget which ) in Alaska

it's Basic/AIT, or OSUT ( if your MOS does OSUT training ), then Airborne School, unless you're a Rigger in which case Airborne is part of AIT from what I understand

however if you want to be an officer, getting to Airborne School is a little different

hope it helps
