I'm worried sick about my eyesight. It's getting worse! what can i do to keep it where it is or make it better. do they let you into BUD/S if you get LASIK surgery, and how old do you have to be to get that. i got my eyes tested and they said it was 20/40 in both eyes. If it drops lower than that, that'll mean i'll have to request a waver right?? Lord help me.

I am not in the military, but I have been following the progress with eye surgery for nearly 3 years now as far as what is accepted by the Navy. As of a couple of Months ago, the stance with the Navy is still a negative on Lasik. If you do Lasik, you will be automatically disquaified. PRK is the only approved surgery by the Navy, and the laser that is used must be an accredited Laser. The worst you can have in you worst eye is 20/70. If you have that or better, you shouldn't have a problem getting to BUD/s, and if you get worse, BUD/s Graduates get put on the top of the list for surgery. I dont have the number of the guy you want to talk to in Coronado with me right now, but if you want it I can look for it. Hope this helps
BTW... This is as I have said what I found out, and while I made sure to get as much of it straight from the horses mouth, I suggest you do the same also. Good luck
