What is the Navy's definition of color blindness?

Im not sure on the exact definition but its pretty severe. I went through MEPS with a guy who could distinguish green and red but had a hard time distiniguishing different shades of green and red. They said he was colorblind and that was that.

Below is the vision requirements for the SEALS that I got from their official website (www.sealchallenge.navy.mil). They state that a man looking to become a seal cannot have any color blindness but it may be different for different jobs in the navy.



Vision Requirements

SEALs are required to perform a variety of tasks that require a high vision aptitude. SEAL candidates may qualify for PRK Refractive Surgery to correct their vision. You can read more about the PRK policy on the BUMED PRK Refractive Surgery web site.

Your eyesight may be no worse than 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other, and it must be correctable to 20/20 with no color blindness.

You may request a waiver if vision is 20/70 in one eye and 20/100 in the other, correctable to 20/20.
