I posted this same question in another room, but I was hoping I could get a more in depth answer. I am in great shape, and I hear that the Navy's basic training is pretty weak (at least physicaly). I really do not want to regress during basic training, so I my question is this... is there ANYTHING at all, any options or anything during basic training that will allow me to stay in good shape? I run and PT a LOT, and im scared of losing my ability in both. So, any advice? I just want to stay as physicaly prepared for BUD/s as possible, you know? Well, any advice (FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTUALY BEEN TO BASIC TRAINING! PLEASE) I need some real advice here. As much detail as you guys wanna offer would be great. I Appreciate it greatly, thank you very much.

From the marines you can then transfer over to buds training to become a SEAL.
Um not to say you dont know what your talking about, But, uh... you dont know what you are talking about.
You can NOT be a marine and go to BUDS. you can train with some SEALs, or get some dive training from the Navy possibly but you can't be a marine and go through BUDS. You will have to serve your enlistment in the the Corps, Get out, Enlist in the Navy, then volunteer for BUDS. interservice transfer are not that easy and after getting out of Boot camp in the Corps there is no way you will be considered.

Chill out bro, boot camp only lasts 9-12 weeks, and the majority of your time is spent PTing and drilling. You will lose weight but you'll get in shape and stay in shape. I just did a tour in Iraq from Feb -May (that's 4 months) with no PT, eating MRE's and I lost about 20 lbs. When I got back on ship, I only had lost 3 pullups, 5 pushups and didn't lose one situp. And I can still out run most of my Marines. Everything came back so fast it was like I'd never been gone.
Tell your recruiter that you want to take the SEAL challenge program in Boot Camp, that will build you up and qualify you to go to BUDs after your A-school. If your A- school is in Great Lakes, IL, you can continue to go to the SEAL challenge PTat RTC (just down the street). And DO NOT neglect picking a good A-school, just because you want to get to BUDs quicker, BECAUSE if and when you get kicked out or ring out, you want to have a good job to fall back on. As the SEALs say: 2=1, 1=0. Always have a backup plan. And by the way, you can always do pullups in the head and dips between the washer and dryer, use your immagination, sh!t-for brains. And good luck.
