How often do the Green Berets PT? What is it like? I heard in a Navy SEALs running cadence that the Green Berets only PT once a day, I don't know if it was just for the song though.

Cadences wouldn't be cadences if they didn't poke fun at someone or something--you should hear some of the ones we sing around the tankers...

I once heard a Navy SEAL running cadence that went something like "Hey Marine Corps, bullet sponge Marine Corps, put on your boots and run with me, we are the sons of liberty. Hey Coast Guard, puddle hopping Coast Guard, put on your boots and run with me, we are the sons of liberty." And it had something to say about all the different branches, I just can't remember them all.

Damn thing won't let me edit my last post! Any way, the absolute BEST cadance comes from the BEST Clint Eastwood movie ever, Heartbreak Ridge. "Model A Ford and a tank full of gas, hand full of ***** and a mouth full of ***"

Whoever wants to know.
My uncle is a Green Beret SFC at Fort Campbell Kentucky. I went down there earlier this year to PT with them since I am joining the Navy soon and going for SEALs. They PT'ed daily in the AM before breakfast, my uncle ran the PT and it went like this.
Monday 5.5 mile run. few sit ups and pushups.
Tuesday 3.3 mile run with 8 stops. at each stop you do 20 push ups/sit-ups and climbed a rope. No break taking.. just stop.. do your thing and keep on going.. this day was alot more fun because we tore the **** out of some air assualt trainees trying to do the same thing.
Wednesday- Played Ultimate football with rest of 5th group... had alot of fun.. lots of running.. but no tackling.. which is good.. my uncle blew his knee out doing that.. and some of those guys are really big.
Thursday- 10 mile rucksack march. Ruck weighed 60 pounds. This was alot of fun for me because I got to do alot of talking with the teams medic and one of the engineer/demo/whatever guys.
Friday- Was day off.. Typically they dont make 5th group do anything on fridays.. or most of the week when they arent in the field or training.. its pretty layed back.
If we had been there friday PT would have been either tuesdays or mondays run with a different course had we done mondays.
Hope this helps.

All that PT sounds like fun, in referece to the running and stopping to do a few pushups and all, that is exactly what i do on this little running trail i have. Special Forces guys are on top of the physical conditioning rest assured.

What did all those Berets say when you told them you were going to be a Seal? Just curious if you told them or not? When I told the Army recruiters I was joining the Seal, they said the Berets are a hell of a lot tougher than Seals and basically talked **** about them. I got up and left. I like the Army, but I want to be a Seal.

Dude that is what recruiters do, they want you to join their branch so obviously they will knock the other services some. SF are a great unit i am sure but my heart is set on the SEALs also.

Recruiters will say damn near anything to get you to join the service they are recruiting for.

When I told them I was going to be a SEAL, they said * don't quit, cause they wont let you die.. and never stop running* that is more paraphrasing.. I learned alot that week.. no one I met considered themselves above SEAL operators. Each one of them had met a few and told me they were great guys. My recruiters always told me SEALs would eat any other spec ops guy alive.. but I didnt really buy it. I was going to join the army.. the only reason I didnt was because my uncle told me I should join the Navy. He said they will treat you better, and you get cooler toys.

I also looked at the Army also. But after talking to Army and navy guys and talking to a few navy seals. I found out that the navy does treat a guy better. I wouldnt mind the army either, but it seems like it takes you twice as long to get anywere in the army. I`m not ragging on the army, I just think they would get more recruits if they changed their ways.
Personally i think that a d-boy would tear up any special operation recruit but thats just me, i hopefully am going to make it into the 82nd ( green berets ) and then hopefully delta, i pt regularily and have been for years, one more year till i can apply for the berets, any insight on pt for preparation would be appreciated

i hopefully am going to make it into the 82nd ( green berets )
i believe the 82nd is a paratroopers squad unless ur reffering to soemthing else.
and then hopefully delta
there are some good books you could read to research up on that if you havent already i read some interesting posts on this iste aobut delta. i believe one was delta force selction and training
any insight on pt for preparation would be appreciated
if you havent done so already, go to www.goarmy.com and go to the SF page. it will give you a 5 week workout schedule for SFAS. It also has some interesting statistics on what people make it into SF like % and stuff (like 4 mile march time = this % getting in and APFT score = this % getting in)

"Green Berets" are Special Forces soldiers. The 82nd Airborne Division is not Special Forces.

Yea, as I said in another post recruiters come to my school all the time. I've noticed though they never say anything about the SEALs, but the Marines seem to be the biggest talkers. The kids would gather around the Marines, I was the only one at the Army desk, the kids kept asking stupid questions like who would win in a fight, a Marine or an Army Soldier. The Marines would laugh and twist words around to basically say that they were better, plus I am pretty positive that recruiters get promoted for people they get to join their service. So if they have to knock on other services they probably will do it.
Just some ideas.
