Hello,

I was wondering about age and BUD/S completion rates. I know that the age limit for non-prior service recruits is 28, has anyone in their mid 30's gotten through BUD/S and onto the teams? Thanks.

Quite a number of guys have graduated BUD/S past the age of 28. The oldest guys to date were both 38 when they graduated, but your chances of getting into training nowadays over 32 are slim to none. The bottom line is--your bones get harder as you age, and your recovery time from sports injuries increases. the age cutoff for BUD/S is 28, and BUPERS (Navy Bureau of Personnel) can waiver to age 30. BUD/S may grant a waiver for someone over 30, but normally only if he is prior service (SF, Force Recon, etc.), or really blows the screen test out of the water.
