In response to the postings regarding Tadpole215 and SF, could someone explain why SEALs supposedly are not getting the "REAL" missions? Also, please define "REAL" from what I've gathered (nightly news, print media, and a few books) SEALs have been very active in the Terror Wars in Afganistan and Iraq. Furthermore, from what I've read (a good deal of which is on this website) SEAL platoons are designed to operate in extremely small groups, seeking specific targets, often in areas under "enemy control" whereas Army Rangers and Special Forces are given assignments that more or less spearhead a larger force into an area where the Army will "dig in" and plan on remaining for a longer period of time (several months). In light of this, what sort of assignments are the SEALs being denied in place of SF? It doesn't make sense to me that a group as highly trained as the SEALs would not be used in every possible way.
