Ok, women cant be in the Navy Seals. But is there anything woman can be in. And I dont talk about just sitting in a desk. I'm talking about be in the war and fight like everybody else. / tc_navy

TC, talk to the females on the cruisers, destroyers, amphibs and carriers. They've seen combat from a different perspective. They've worked in the deck departments, engineering and on the flight deck. Just because you're launching a Tomahawk from X miles out doesn't mean that you aren't contributing in a combat role. I've never seen up close combat and from all I've seen and heard from those who have, everyone wants it until they've been there.

The goal for ANYONE joining the military should be to "protect and serve", NOT to get in as much killing or fighting as possible. Accept the responsibility to defend, but don't delight in killing. If your goal is to "protect and serve", then serving on a Navy ship in any position will accomplish just that. If you just want to fight, I suggest rethinking your plan.

Good one Jared, you pulled out something I overlooked. Perhaps it was the fact that you are the other gender. I know when I was much younger, my motivation for wanting to join was to fly and not just the C-130's. I wanted, and this was before "Top Gun," to fly the fighters. But you are right. If she is fixated on fighting, she doesn't just need to re-think her plan, she might need some therapy, too.
Why is it that people who have not seen the elephant want to?
Lack of sense. But, were we any different many moons back?

Oh, belive me I have tryed therapy. And guess what? It did'nt work. You guys does'nt have to be so "mean" to me. I am what I am and I can't change that. So if I wan't to fight then let me. And you, americans and others, you don't need to be worried. I'm from Sweden so I'm not going to be near any of you people.

I´m worried, I´m from Sweden too..=)
If you are serious about being in an operational unit you may try to get in to the SSG (Särskilda Skydds Gruppen).
You´ll "just" have to go thru FJS(Airborne assult school) or KJ(Coastal Ranger school) first....good luck to you girl!!!
Oh, by the way you should also finish A-dyk (Attack diver school) before aplying to SSG...
Not to mention you have to be a YO(Yrkes officer).
Well, many have tried and failed but if you think you have what it takes.....go for it.
Oh, belive me I have tryed therapy. And guess what? It did'nt work.
That´s not a good sign though, there are extensive psyc evals on every applicant to these jobs...

People with your attitude shouldn't be allowed near guns, automated weapons, or knives. And I have a hard time believing therapy didn't work. But then therapy only works if YOU want to change.

Oops. Methinks someones feelings are hurt. Oh well, guess you can't make everyone happy.I think with a skin as thin as Tc's she will have a hard time making it through basic much less advanced training.
A-62. my last trip down to Daytona I found some GATOR HAMMOCK/GATOR SAUCE. It is good but I think I'll stick with my old stand-by Tabassco.

TC, I'm not being mean. I am downright serious about talking to the females who serve on the surface combatants. Those who are there with the dedication and shipmate mentality contribute just as much as their male counterparts. These women are on the flight line as crew chiefs for the combat aircraft, in the gun turrets on the surface ships and participating in the well deck operations on the amphibs. Those jobs take dedication and loyalty because for either gender, they're thankless, nasty, dirty, unglamorous toil. That's where combat really takes place because without these people, the SEALs, the Marines and the ground pounders wouldn't be able to produce much in terms of results. Methinks, you're still young as our sages here have stated and don't know what you think you want. Listen well to them. They've been there and the little they impart about direct combat is not pretty, glamorous or something that anyone wants. They were there because they had/have the desire to serve and defend and were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

tvlr.....That is more for the subject ,however I could use the sauces to calm down my upset stomach.The sauce can also make the big rats taste like bbq'd chicken.

LOL. Gators I keep in the house but I agree, I usually use my Crystals (same same as tabassco, I think). Now i use alot of Patty's pickled pepper sauce, the sweet heat. Nother local product, very good. You won't find that stuff in no big place like Daytona.Haha. Ya'll have nice day now ya heah.
