I feel comfortable with every physical and mental aspect of starting BUD/S, except for running in boots. I can run just fine in running shoes but in a pair of bates I move like a turtel and my stamia is right up there with a 90 year old women, anyone out there got any trick to the trade?

There's no trick. You just have to get used to it. You should be running almost everyday. Every couple of days run in your boots to get used to it. Getting shin splints is a major problem in BUD/s. The least you can do is be better prepared.

I have a pair of grinders steel toe boots, and they are hard to run with. I am fairly sure that the combat boots they will make you run in wont be a pair like these. Somewhere in this website it tells you what kind of combat boots that you should practice running with.

don't know about now, but in '81 it was Grade 1A Navy bootcamp issue boondockers. nothing special. A couple guys in bootcamp ran 3 or 4 miles every night in the drill hall wearing them. They weren't too bad til I burned half my big toe off. Now, its just too sensitive. On the upside, I don't get ingrown toe nails!
Make it a Great Day guys!!
