Hell week is 5 1/2 days long (if i remember right) and is made to be the most physicaly and mentaly difficult time period in seal training.

Did I ever tell you about the time I stayed awake for 6 days?

An excellent book to read is "Hellweek" by Dennis Chalker, USN (Ret.) I read it in 1 1/2 days....I couldn't put the thing down! I am now reading Chalker's "One Perfect Op: Navy SEAL Special Warfare Teams" That is a great book also (it's about his career). Hope this helps

Meeting Chalker was one of the coolest things to happen to me. He was the Command Master Chief at Bud/s when I went through. He really is the real deal Navy SEAL.

Wasn't Chalker part of ST6?

This is quoted from the inside back cover of Dennis's books:

"Until recently a Command Master Chief for Navy BUD/S Training, Dennis Chalker was a "plankowner," or founding member, of SEAL Team 6."

Two other great resources for information on Hell Week, can be found in the books, "The Warrior Elite" by **** Couch ( the profanity filters will censor is first name, his name is the nickname for Richard) and the book "Commandos" by Douglas C. Walker. These books go above and beyond what you might see on the Discovery videos. And I would highly recommend the book "One Perfect Op" by Dennis Chalker, it is a great book, it is everything you could ever want to read in SEAL book, it has everything from the evolution of DEVGRU, to first hand accounts of real life deployments.
