At the end of 215's 2nd Phase we got tasked with an FTX (Final Training Excersise)
We were to plant an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) Underneath a small boat, I think down on peer 13 or 14 of the Nany Ship yard in San Diesgo. I can't remember the exact peer, so who cares. Anyway, it was up to us to make these so called IEDs. Most people, in order to bribe the instructors, made their "bomb" out of beer. Like taping a 6 pack up with duct-tape.
Well not me and my buddy, we decided to take an inflattable doll.....hook up a few CO2 cartriges and make that our IED. It went awesome. We tested it out in secret a few times just to make sure it would work. Our idea worked out great.
That night we slashed into San Diego Bay headed for our target at the Naval Ship Yard.
My buddy was flying the attack board and I was carrying the doll. Once we hit the ship. We saw several net bags the instructors were using to retreve the IEDs with, agian mostly beer.
Ha! They were about to see a first. At a shallow depth we dove out about 15 yards. On my buddy's signal I pooed the CO2 system and watched our inflattable betty begin to fill with air.
Dudes, I almost flooded my rig because I was laughing so hard under water. Once our doll filled up, she rocketed to the surface!!!! We bagged out of there pretty quick. About 100 yardds back out into the Bay we both took a shallow water peek to watch the instructors reaction. Total comedy!!!! They were laughing their butts off.
I tell you what, we got hammered for it once we got back to the Bud/s compound. But it was well worth it. It actually was a good hammer session. It was gonna happen anyway, it was 2nd phases last chance to thrash us, but we had one up on them after that night.
