I am currently reserve, awaiting my chance to go active. As i am told, I have to wait 6 months after returning from all my IADT training to have a chance at going active. No problem, June is my six month mark. The paperwork trail is long and hard, but it will happen. My question is, how can i go from my current unit (B Co 319th, 63RSC), to Airborne, then SFAS? As a 31 R, plus being trained in many little extras, i have a 95% chance of going to Bragg, if I am Airborne. Can i get a contract? My recruiters are no help, and my unit already doesnt want to release me. Its a lame situation. Any help?

Try going to www.goarmy.com and looking up the nearest SF Recruiting Team. As I understand it, the paperwork goes to them eventually anyway. I suspect you may have to be active duty first, before anything else happens.

Check with them first.

I'm not sure what state you're in. However, there are options to go to SFAS as a national guardsman... or you might be able to get a contract that says if you complete selection you'll go active duty, or something kindve like in the 18x contract. no matter what, where ever you go you are allowed to go to SFAS, you're commander may try and not let you but it is not his choice..
