I've seen a lot of SEAL movies, and have looked at all the pictures on the website and seen the M16 the most.
I've also heard talk that the military is testing the M4A1 for Specops.
Also, in a lot of movies (i know you cant always believe the movies) i've seen them using MP5's.

I'm NOT a SEAL but I am very educated in government used arms. Probably the most used guns are first, the M4A1 or A3 as for flat-top mounted trijicon optics. Then for sidearm it would have to be the SigSauer P226 9mm.

SEALs have access to a WIDE variety of weapons but these two being thier standard issue arms I would assume these get used the most.

One of the REAL SEALs on this board, "Doug" says the MP5 9mm's are being outed for the new M4 Commando rifle, using a 11.5" barrel as opposed the the M4 standard issue which uses a 14.5" barrel.

I read in a fiction book once (I don't usually take them literally) that they had this weapon that would send some sort of wave of shock out to knock out guys, mostly used to knock out large quantities of people silently. Is there actually something like this, or is it just some dream?

Well that is sort of true. The military is developing new ways to fight people (i.e. crowds) without inflicting death or long-term damage, as with rubber bullets and heavy sand bags shot from shotguns. One new idea is the "pain beam". This pain beam will shoot a concentrated beam of energy to hurt a person, but it won't kill them. It isn't operational yet but they want to hook it up to the top of a hummer. Not sure if they have built a prototype yet. Other non-lethal weapon ideas are being made, one of them being high powered stink bombs. Things that smell so repulsive (sewage and rotten egg smelling) that a person would not be able to stand it and would have to leave the area. I have also seen this type of air gun that shoots a metal or plastic ring at a person at a high velocity. Amazingly it doesn't break any bones because of it spreads the shock over a larger surface than a rubber bullet would. Does leave behind a bruise though, i believe.
