Oh for crying out loud! Mark over to you as to whether it would be appropriate after 'splaining that it all depends on several factors, i.e. pay grade, specialty pays, etc to give these kids the website address guaranteed to confuse them (and often us) even further on military pay?

IMHO, if certain sailors are really bored enough and some have been, they've determined that if their pay were broken down hourly by the fact that military personnel are essentially on duty 24/7/365, you'd get rich faster flipping burgers. Again to restate, it’s not about the money!

Skimmer at his current basic pay only rate from his last statement as an E-5 makes $3.04 per hour. That's in a 30 day month. Refer back to my previous post to figure this out. And, remember ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY! Or he wouldn't have re-enlisted. BTW, it can take from 3 to 9 years to make E-5 depending upon rate and there is an increase within the pay grade as each anniversary date of enlistment passes. skims was maxed out on that increase.

SEALs end up making more than other guys of the same rank in the "regular" military. An E-4 makes about $1500 a month, plus around $500 in special pays, but then you get more when you go on trips. So it's not a bad way to make a living. When you get married you get even more (BAH). I still think they're underpaid for all that they do, but like everyone says, it's not something people do for the money. But most of the SEALs I've met drive really nice cars, lol.
