I was curious on behalf of a friend of mine. He wishes to be a SEAL and he leaves for basic in september. I have been trying to get him to work out with me however he insists that he will start during the summer and be ready for it. I played the socom SEAL game and on this video clip about BUD/s there was this guy saying that sometimes the least athletic and physically prepared have made it through BUD/s. I was just wondering if this is actually possible. Him passing and becoming a SEAL is just as important to me as getting myself through the training. Ihad one last question, I have no idea what goes on during Indoc and i would appreciate it if some just gave me even the briefest explaination about what goes on. Thanks you very much.

As far as getting through BUD/S and being physically prepared - many people say the PST test to get into BUD/S is easy. As it is. Well, if you get to BUD/S you have passed the PST test. If you pass that, you have what it takes to physically make it through BUD/S. The instructors know you are not "weak" and since you have done at least the bare minimum you have the PHYSICAL potential for them to build upon to work you up to where you need to be physically. That is why we say you have to be MENTALLY strong. 90% MENTAL and 10% PHYSICAL means just that. If you tell yourself that you can achieve something - you WILL! So if you make it into BUD/S, you DO HAVE the POTENTIAL to build yourself up to the physical requirements demanded of a SEAL - it all comes down to how MENTALLY strong you are. So...do you have what it takes...I hope this all makes sense. I know it can sound a little confusing.

Indoc is 2 weeks and it simply prepares you for BUD/S. The instructors for Indoc/PTRR give you a small taste of what you will see in first phase. They introduce you to Drownproofing, underwater swimming, knot tying, log PT, etc., etc. It is just a quick "get ready" thing and they show you the ropes of how to wear your uniform for different evolutions, where to go for different things. Gets you to a point where when you start first phase, the complete wussies are gone and your class at least knows sort of what to do when an instructor gives an order or instruction. Its a good thing to have and I would not consider it hard by any means (compared to what you will see in first phase). Make sense? Hope this helped...
