I tried looking up this info on the Naval Special Warfare Mil site, but it didn't seem to be there. So if one of you guys woulnd't mind:

How long is Corpsmen and/or Intelligence Specialist "A" School? Also, I would love to go the medic route, but with a college degree, do you guys think it best to go with IS or something of that sort instead?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks,

RJ

Heres a quote to the collection:

"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.
Talent will not;
Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not;
Unrewardes genius is almost a proverb.
Education alone will not;
The world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

I think you need to just decide what you would enjoy more as a job in the likely event you don't make it through BUD/S. I am an active duty IS (have been for 4 years) and I love the job. I'm not a SEAL, but I think that you would be using your rate quite a bit as a SEAL if you are an IS or an HM. I like being an IS because you get to see a lot of things that other people don't get to see. For instance, a jet mechanic has to focus on making sure that the jet engine he is working on gets back up and back in a jet in a given amount of time. As an IS, you will know that one of the jets is down because we are waiting on that mech to get it running, but you also know where that jet is going, what it's mission is, why that mission is important, etc, etc.... This rate just gives you a really good overview of what is going on around you. We are kind of like the plant manager for fighting a war, we see the finished product and results of our work. BTW, I was an EMT before I joined the Navy, and I still chose IS. I hope I didn't step on any toes, but I do LOVE my job.
