Question for all SEALs and retired SEALs, what kind of physical fitness training did you do before joining the Navy and going to BUD/S. I am especially interested to hear from those of you who went through some of the earlier classes, as you didn't have the internet where you could download workouts and ask questions on message boards and such. Did you read any books about fitness and try and create your own workouts? Did you just go to BUD/S and trust that you were in good enough shape to get started? Were you involved in lots of sports beforehand? Just curious.

For myself, i never worked out.. But I worked hard.. I was a commercial fisherman from the time I could walk.. Full time from the age of 13. 12 hour work days were a matter of routine.I could drive any boat or Tugboat put in front of me, and the physical part of training was tough.. but never was anything put in front of me that I thought I could not do...but because of my lack of schooling, when everyone else was taking a break.. i was cracking the books..
I actually got my HS Diploma while i was in Training.. then went on to get a BA after i was in the Teams.

When you were in the Teams how/when did you go about getting your BA, and how long did it take you?

Thanks for the reply WW, sounds like it was pretty damn tough dealing with schooling and training at the same time.
