I am an E-3/Airman currently attending "A" school at Ft. Mead, MD. I will hopefully be heading to California in the near future in order to begin bud/s training and I was wondering what kind of contact and time you are able to have with family during bud/s training and afterward as a SEAL. I am highly dedicated to becoming a SEAL as I have been since the age of 13, but it worries me that I will have to give up everyone in my life in order to achieve this goal. If someone could help inform me as to exactly what having a family and being a SEAL is like I would be extremely grateful.

Why not become a SEAL and get married, then you'll know what it's like. I don't think it's right to ask a question like that because every marriage is different. Only way to find out is to just do it. Good luck.

Thanks Pixie. I guess that any kind of relationship that is worthwile takes work and your right in saying that every marriage(like every relationship) is different. I guess what I really would like to know is how much time SEALs get at home and what are some of the stresses that come with the lifestyle that I need to prepare myself for. Thanks for the imput though.
