In all the pictueres and video's I've seen of SEALs I've never seen them wearing any body armor, why is this. I would think that with all the high risk situations a SEAL may encounter some body armor would benefite you. The only reason I can think of as to why they don't is it might limit your mobility, but in such a dangerous situation wouldn't you choose survivabilty over mobility?

Sometimes lack of mobility is exactly what will get you shot. Also, body armor doesn't work well at all once you go prone. It's intended to protect you while standing or kneeling. Try running around in 25 lb. body armor, with another 8 or so lbs. of ballistic helmet (add 2 lbs. for night vision), much less climbing ladders or stairs. It will become self evident, why you avoid it when possible. Body armor also makes you much noisier, which will also get you shot. I'd rather sacrifice a bit of protection for stealth and mobility any day. With that said, we wear it when the mission requires.

Not only that but body armor isn't going to do anything for most of the rounds you may be up against. Remember that SEALs are usually close combat fighters anyways which makes body armor even less effective.

BIGBEAR-
kevin is NOT and NEVER was a Navy SEAL. His advice, comments, suggestions, and guidance are NOT endorsed, encouraged, NOR are they accepted or recognized by this community.
Pay CLOSE attention, however, to the REAL SEALs who come here JUST for this purpose... to answer your questions. THEY are the real deal and have been through the entire program. THEY will be able to offer you the most effective and most accurate advice, suggestions, and recommended courses of action
Best wishes...

Well consider that this "community" consists mostly of people who have never nor will ever have anything to do with the SEAL program that doesn't surprise me. I mean why would a bunch of Soldier of Fortune reading 120 pound picked on in school wannabes who want to promote a superhuman image of SEALs accept the reality of the situation? I wouldn't expect them too.
