Why are the Battle Dress Uniform covers an octagon shape?
Why is this question posted under Ask A SEAL? They are octagon shaped because we use a kit that holds its form and you starch it. It is done because Navy/Marine Corps regs call for them to be that way. Army uses same type of covers but do not starch them. Hope this answered your question by why did it have to be under Ask A SEAL?.......

Sorry Doug, my Marine recruiter asked me to research this question last Thursday and I've looked all over the internet for the answer. Since the Marines are a department of the Navy, I thought maybe a SEAL would know because I have no idea of where else to ask. It was a stretch, but I thought I'd try it. The reason I put it on here is because I'm a member here. My plan is to get into Marine Force Recon eventually and then when I serve my years, get into the Navy and go through BUDS. Just thought I'd try to see if anyone knew. Thanks
