I ship off to boot on the 25th of March. I got the SEAL challenge guarantee along with HM in my contract. Anyway I have been reading on the boards and I even read this on the sealchallenge website about 3 months ago, that you get 4 chances in boot camp to pass the physical fitness test. The website has changed and looks different now. They now have this thing called the road to becoming a SEAL(http://www.sealchallenge.navy.mil/seal/bec_road.asp). On this site they don't mention anything about the 4 chances, but they do mention something else that I have quoted below.
"You must be in peak physical condition to meet the BUD/S challenge. If your "A" School is located in the vicinity of RTC Great Lakes, Illinois; NAB Little Creek, Virginia; or San Diego, California check in with the SEAL Motivators. You are required to take the PST 30 days before transferring to BUD/S. "
So is this true now? Has this changed from the way that it was? Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.
thank you,
Nicholas

I suggest you take the seall test at bootcamp asap because I actually got out of shape in bootcamp (you don't do a damn thing). I think the earliest you can take it is like 4 weeks in or something like that. Also beware, those damn boots they make you wear will kill your run so don't go all out on the swim.

If you have the SEAL contract, on the day there is the Dive MOtivator Talk you have your first chance to screen. Your division is talked to about all the special programs that are avalible in the NAVY. THis takes place on 2-1 day or around there. ( 2nd week 1st day) They called the contracted people up to the front of the class and then told us we would be taking the screen test after lunch and not to eat a big meal.
If you fail the intial screen you can take the screen test every single morning if you like. Although there are alot of mandatory evolutions that you have to make with your division so it wont be possible to make it every morning. There was a guy there I remember that literally was there every day trying to pass it.. was a big guy couldnt get the pull-ups.
You have until your 6-1 day to pass for the contract. After that you have to wait until your A-school but then you arent under your SEAL contract that you enilisted with.
You have plenty of chances to pass, way more than 4.

Does a seal have any time for school. I'd like to enlist for four years and was wondering if I'd have time to persue an education and become a seal.

Yes a SEAL has time for school but its very very hard, especially if you're on deployment, however SEALs do get it done. The easiest way would be through University of Maryland's University College online program which allows for a lot of flexibility.

Thanks Kev, I really wanted to join, but wasn't sure about life after if I didn't have time. Also I'd like to know if any seals have become lawers. If anyone knows any tell me.

Haven't you even seen JAG? :P No, SEALs have become probably every thing you could think of. Lawyers, doctors, mayors, senators, govenors, actors, teachers, accountants, anything you can think of I'm sure some SEAL has been it before or after they were a SEAL.

NDROBER-
kevin22ca is NOT and NEVER was a Navy SEAL. His advice, comments, and information are NOT endorsed, encouraged, NOR are they accepted by this community.
Make certain to pay CLOSE attention, however, to the advice of gentlemen such as Wetwash, Wazz, DirkD, Doug, Bullrider, et al. THEY are the real deal. They've seen the entire program and will be able to give you the BEST advice possible or will be able to direct you to someone who can.
Best Wishes... and GO GIT 'EM!!!!

SouthPaw-
Thanks for the info. I have been following the boards closely and I know that Kevin is a quiter. I wish he would just walk away from this site and this board just like he walked out on his BUD/S class when he rang the bell three times.
Kevin-
Please do not respond to any of my posts as you have no clue what you are talking about and I wish not to look at anything you post in regards to my questions.
Thanks,
