Sorry if i come off ignorant on all of this..just trying to decide my life and all, you know.

So..
The youngest SEAL in history was 17 when graduated, how was this possible? I mean...boot camp..A school..BUD/s and then isnt that like 2 years all-together..?

Ok this is some-what of a stupid questions...is being a SEAL like in the movies? or Special Forces-as a whole..
(Black Hawk Down, Tears Of The Sun etc.)..how many combat situations will an average SEAL find himself in, in his career?

Can you have time for another life- as a seal? I mean...girlfriend/wife..kids...business..is there any hope?

Has anyone ever died during BUD/s? During Ranger school like 27 have died...so i was wondering..due to all of the water and drowning possibilities it seems likely.

I have been preparing since i was 14 (2 1/2 years)...ive lost over 40 pounds...and i can run around 3 miles at a 8:45 pace, is this decent(big improvment on my part)? Uhm..i can only do like 60 pushups without stopping..and 4 pull-ups..any tips on gaining more?

I also try to swim at the beach with fins daily..but i am some-what leary of the ocean..its not a fear..but its in the back of my head something may eat me, or i might just get sucked under..have any of you felt this way, before enterting BUD/s, but done well while in there? im affraid this will affect me, if i get in..any tips/pointers?

ok now some simple questions:

How much does a SEAL make yearly?
How much time will be spent on a Ship/Out to Sea?
Can you chose your team?
Is there any special-qualities that can help you in your career/chances at SEAL/BUDs?(Martial Arts..speaking foreign Languages etc.)

Sorry..so many questions..i could think of more..this is good for starters, heh.

Thanks,
Pose.

I know I'm not a SEAL, and I'm sorry for posting to this. But I had to respond to one question, as it does apply to me.

Can you have time for another life- as a seal? I mean...girlfriend/wife..kids...business..is there any hope?

Yes, you can. It takes as much dedication as the job, but a successful marriage and family life is possible.

There was a time 17-year olds joined the Navy. They did Boots, then were turned out to the Fleet. "A" school was a privelege offered to few, unknown to many. In the early days many Navy Specialties (Ratings) were expected to be trained in the Fleet, then after some exposure to a given specialty, then apply and hopefull receive a slot to an "A" school. So the 17 year old SEAL could of very possibly been in Scouts and Raiders, NCDU, or UDT. In those days Training was limited to the needs of the wars. So mathmetically it is very possible for a 17 year old to have joined the Navy, do Boots, bypass "A" school, and go right to a Frogman Training School. Then be assigned to a Team, all within the scope of the member's 17th year.

POSE-

kevin is NOT and NEVER was a Navy SEAL. His advice, comments, suggestions, and guidance are NOT endorsed, encouraged, NOR are they accepted or recognized by this community.

Pay CLOSE attention, however, to the REAL SEALs who come here JUST for this purpose... to answer your questions. THEY are the real deal and have been through the entire program. THEY will be able to offer you the most effective and most accurate advice, suggestions, and recommended courses of action

Best wishes...
