After reading HELL WEEK by Chalker about a year ago I added Flutter Kicks, Sit ups, and Push Ups after my weight lifting sets (and for fun I always have a cold running hose over mysefl to add some soaking wet variety to the above three, sound inasne?). My question is 2 part: Is it true about the massive flutter kicks done during BUD/S? And how are they counted out? I've been counting mine, ohhh, how do I put this, 25 four counts, that's every fourth kick being one until I (umph) yell 25...thanks for the info.

No it does not sound insane. It sounds easy in comparison to what you will face at BUD/S. Also, it is really pointless. The cold water hose does not do anything for you but make you miserable. Why do it to yourself when you are not at BUD/S? It will not prepare in any form for BUD/S as it is not something you can just "get used to".

It is absolutely true - countless flutter kicks....it never ends........

They are counted as 4-count, but we never stopped at just 25....usually when we were able to stop it was either at about 100 or to "hit the surf" whichever came first....*lol*......

thanks for the info.

Your welcome...Hope it helped......

Thank you. Yeah, you're right, I know that trying to create an "environment" is no where near the real thing. Now that I think of it, I don't think anything can really prepare for the reality shock of military training, especially BUD/S. I guess that's why I heard the emphasis is on mental. Anyways, thank you for answering my question, and I'll start increasing my flutter kicks too.
