What are the attributes of a man who has what it takes to make it through BUDs?

LOL, probably a great sense of humor. The guys that graduated with me were different in many ways. Different upbringings, different interests, but all in all everyone was just willing to put up with the bull **** . We all felt the cold, and it sucks still, but everyone who makes it through BUD/S is able to get through the worst of times all because they have a stubborness about them that says you just don't have the luxuary of giving up. Does that mean frogmen are so hardcore that they don't complain about anything? Hell no, we ***** like crazy within the platoon, but only after the work is done. Also guys that survive through all the training are the ones who are able to laugh about everything. If you can't laugh, forget it, you'll be miserable and quit.
All the men are equal when in comes to professionalism, officers and enlisted alike, and that is very important since there is no need to question whether a guy will carry his own load, square his things away, and still have your back.
There is no trick to getting through BUD/S. Some people have it in them and don't realize it until they are tested. You'll never know until you take that risk.

I laughed out loud when I read that, it is so true. *****ing comes with the territory. And I say that in a 'ya gotta love it' way. ;)

Sir,
Without a doubt you are one of my favorite SEAL posters. I really enjoy the way you relate yourself and your thoughts. You have a humbleness/honesty that really shines through. I would be very proud to meet you and if/when a make it call you a brother some day. Keep up the good information. Its funny how a person can carry their personality through a text based message so well! You crack me up!!! LOL

Thanks for the compliment, Travis. I am happy to see that my posts help you guys out. I know how important it is to be able to talk with SEALs online, because I wish I could have done it before I went into the Navy. I wish you all the best luck in your training. I will not be online for a while, so to all guys that are training, keep it up, and never lose hope.

Outstanding reply bro! I can't even think of anything to add to that. I agree 100%...being able to laugh through it is a key ingredient to make it to graduation day! Good luck to the future hopefuls......

I read something that the navy did a test on SEAL's once and even though there wasnt a certain type of person that made it thay found that thay thought certain ways and werent really wreckless and what not. Search the web im sure its around. And i guess i might as well post this here since it kinda relates. Do any current or former SEAL's have problems with being in the gym. But are very good when doing stuff competively. The reason i ask is that when im in the gym i just compete with my self but i dont feel like im doing the best i could be. But yet when ive competed against people or worked on a team i always come out way ahead almost like i push my self 10 times harder or something. Just curious if any SEAL's have this problem.
