I am getting to the point in my life where I need to make the decision of whether or not to go to college before or after I engage in becoming a SEAL. Please provide any information to help me. Thanks

Hi. I am not a SEAL. Go to college. If you do, you will be 22 when you graduate.. then you are free and clear to explore the SEALs.. I think if you do some research you will find that many SEALs are going to college now - it is a little more difficult juggling SEAL responsibilities AND getting an education. Just one man's opinion.

Hey man I agree. I am 14 almost 15 and a freshman in High school ( I'm a youngin in my grade. )and have been plotting out my journey to becoming a SEAL team leader ( I've already started to train ( run, lift wieghts, beef up my brain ). Yeah High hopes but with a unpenetrable will and way! Go to College first. B/c like Johnny R said, You will be 22 and clear. SEAL training in its total is about a year and a half. BUD/S is just the elimination process. Go to colleg first, get a degree. So when u retire u will have something to fall back on. A lot of companies will hire retired officers for their management skills andthey draw way more money than reg enlisted. Me myself, I am goin' in to do the job, ( also I am a Christian and I've been prayin to the Lord to show where he wants me and the SEALs is the place. Plus I wanna be a SEAL ) not to get paid alot. U go to college so u have a degree so when u do retire and u will b/c no one can be a SEAL forever. Go to college get your degree. Enjoy life and Enjoy the SEALs. Maybe I'll see you there. :)

Hey on the degree thing, look at it like this though, you have to serve for a period of 4 years, and he may even want to do more in the navy. But lets say for years. After that period his degree is gonna 4 four years of age, and more than likely he may not have done any excersices to make sure that he keeps the knowlage that he had to learn to attain that degree, so therfore it could be harder for him to attain a job after he is done with service. But that is also just one possiblity. The Navy will also pay for your collage. After training in BUDS and your 18 month training before oversea deployment you could start your collage eduacation two years into your service. And that way you would still attain the privlage of being called a SEAL and even an officer if you like. Thats some words of advice my father gave to me. I understand the difficulty of the decision cause I am right there along with you bro, and looking at the path of a Seal to. Do what you can, and follow your heart, mind, and spirit, and most of all dont give up.
