Play lots of sports, keep focused on you school work. Join your HS wrestling team ASAP. Wrestling builds character, at least i believe that mine did. Keep Active above all else. Start easy with some push ups and running, build from there, you can get into really hard core training regiments when you are done growing.

Remember, don't over-do it. You're only 14 and you've got all the time in the world to become a SEAL. Stick with your school's basic excercise program and try to do a little cycling, swimming, and running on the weekends. Do pushups, situps, pullups, and other body-weight excercises and you'll be fine. Just remember to stay active and stay safe. Once you're 17, 18, or 19 then you can consider the tough workouts to prepare you for BUD/S.

I've been wrestling for 4 years now, and I have to say I'm in the best shape i've ever been in. I played competitive soccer for 10 years and trained 6 days a week and still HS wrestling keeps me in much better shape. I've pushed myself beyond what i thought possible and it feels great. I'm sure its nothing compared to what goes down during BUD/s but i see it as a preparatory tool.

Another alternative for some basic training is to go to a marines recruiting office and ask for a wokout guide. It has a guide to go from totally lazy to above the expert qualifications for the marines. The next step in the process would be to go to the navy seal workout ( http://www.navyseals.com/community/navyseals/navysealworkout_main.cfm)
and start the catagory II section. The Marine workout book is a good idea because the navy seals workout for the lazy group doesnt really start you out doing excersises that would be feasable for an out of shape person. The marines book however has a really good plan for getting in shape to do harder training.

Hey bud,
Since you're 14, you have a good head start on a great career. Don't get focused on the icing and miss all the cake. I'm 25 with 4 years in the Navy, and I'm struggling to finish my degree because I'm a corpsman serving in the Marine Corps infantry. I don't have much time for school, however, YOU DO. I'm not telling you what to do, but I am suggesting that you look into the Naval Academy or a NROTC program. Earn your degree and your commission before going to BUDs, believe me, the payoffs are far better as a SEAL officer. Study hard for your SAT's and just be very competitive in swimming and running, that will set you up for success for both the Academy and the surf zone.
Hope to see you in the teams little bro!

Hey man have you checked out the naval sea cadets. It is a pretty cool program for kids 13-17. You should look into joining that, after you complete the 2 week boot camp that they have and pass all the requirements you can train in special fields and one of them is SEAL team training. It is a really good program and will help you get ready for joining the navy, plus it gives you a pay bonus when you join the navy. You should go to their website www.seacadets.org. good luck

sports, sports, sports!! Your best bet is to go out for the cross country team, wrestling team and track team. Take them seriously. Get your competitive juices flowing and it will take care of your training for the next couple years and you'll have some fun doing it.

Recondoc, were you with the same Charlie Co. 1/2 that was caught in that nasty fight to take that bridge in Nasiyria? I have ever respect for all of our boys and ladies over there, but I read about what happened out there and that was some thick s h i t.
With all respect possible,
