I was wondering how deployment works after A school. If you take your screening test during basic, do you have to be deployed to a ship if you are chosen for BUDs? If so, how long is deployment and when do you get to try out for BUDs again?
Thanks,
Jeff
THIS IS A RECRUITER QUESTION - IT IS OFTEN DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE BASED UPON WHEN YOUR BUDS CLASS STARTS.

I am talking with a Navy Recriter right now and he told me that if I do everything that I am supposed to do as far as paper work and what not it should be 1)Boot Camp, 2)A School and 3) BUDS. I had that same question becasue I really am going in the Navy specifically for the SEALS. He told me that if I screw up and am not on the ball of things then after A school being deployed on a ship for like 6 months is a reality thus delaying my entering BUds. He said that if I do 1)Boot Camp, 2)A School and 3) BUDS in that order with no hesitation and actually make SEAL training I will have no idea what Navy life is like because I will be with Navy Special Warfare, and he said NSW is a totally different enviorment.

The only way you're gauranteed to get to BUD/S is through the Seal Challenge Contract. That will give you a shot of BUD/S if you pass the screening test. If you do get to BUD/S, you'll still have to make it through before you become a SEAL.
If you don't get the Contract, then you'll have to wait until your commanding officer agrees to put in the paperwork for you - and that could be a very long wait.
