View Full Version : Enlisted vs. Officer
After reading as much as I have been able to get my hands on, something is still fuzzy to me. Some sources state that SEAL officers are only deployed a few times before they get bumped to a desk job. They also say that the high ranking enlisted men are the ones with all the power in the teams. Is this true? If it is, it seems like a waste to SEAL officers to be such quality warriors and then not let them face that much action. Let me know what the deal is. Thanx.

I Think an E-7 to E-9 (Chief, Senior Chief, Master Chief) is in charge of the team on the field, with the SEAL Officer as C1 (Command) I think the reason why SEAL Officers aren't usually on the field is because they know a lot of Secret/Top Secret stuff thats very vital to any Militant Lunatics should they get captured.
Hey, I could be wrong.
TRUE AND FALSE. O'S WILL OPERATE FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS, UNLESS THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO GO TO "THE OLD SEAL TEAM SIX" - THERE THEY CAN OPERATE FOR OVER 10 YEARS. AFTER THAT - THEY STILL SERVE IN OPERATIONAL BILLETS - BUT RUNNING A TASK UNIT, TASK GROUP, A SEAL TEAM OR JOINT SPECIAL OPERATIONS TASK FORCE. THESE JOBS ARE SEPARATED BY STAFF JOBS. SO THEY DO OPERATE AFTER THE INITIAL "RUNNING AND GUNNING" PHASE OF THEIR CAREERS - BUT THEY ARE NOT OUT ON A SNIPER MISSION, OR DOING A RECON, BUT BACK MANAGING THE WHOLE SHOW. THE SENIOR ENLISTED WIELD A LOT OF INFLUENCE - INCLUDING HOW THINGS ARE DONE OPERATIONALLY AT THE TEAM / TASK GROUP LEVEL AND IN TRAINING - BUT THEY DO NOT HOLD THE POWER...THAT STAYS WITH THE POLITICALLY CONNECTED OFFICERS WHO MANAGE AND LEAD THE COMMUNITY.
