I have just had my wisdom teeth pulled a couple of days ago, and was going to take my physical at MEPS on Wednesday 12 Feb 03. I was told in order to get the SEAL contract that I would have to take the SEAL PFT before that which I will do on Monday 10 Feb 03. Since I am feeling really bad and sick from my teeth just coming out if I do badly on the PFT should I still enlist even though I want to become a SEAL or should I tell the recruiter that I want to wait to enlist until I feel better so that I am guaranteed to get the SEAL contract. He told me that I could enlist and then take the PFT again and maybe get a waiver for it. Everyones opinion is welcome. I am only going into the Navy to become a SEAL.

I have the SEAL Challenge in my contract and I have yet to take the SEAL PFT. You dont needto take it to get the SEAL Challenge Contract. All you need is a decent score on your ASVAB and a job with a SEAL source rating.
REESE - haydon is correct. You do not take the PFT until you are in boot camp. I think it was the third or fiurth week of boot for me. Just make sure you meet the requirements for the program meaning VE + AR = 104 and MC = 50 (for the ASVAB or higher than those scores) and meet all the medical requirements and have a SEAL Source Rating. That is all you need to ensure for the SEAL Challenge Contract. You do not need to worry about the SEAL PT test until you are in boot camp. Just keep doing it to stay in shape and be prepared for it though and good luck...

Hey Doug! Would it matter if I was prior service, because I am prior service Army?
Nope. Makes no difference whatsoever...

ITS BEST IF YOU DO IT NOW YOU WILL GET PUT IN A SPECIAL DIVISION IN BOOT CAMP----YOU CAN TAKE IT AGAIN AT THE DIVE LOCKER BUT IT WILL TAKE AT LEAST 14 DAYS TO GET TO THAT----YOU WONT PT IN THAT TIME SO YOU MAY BE OUT OF SHAPE

Haydon,
what is the timeline for the seal contract? What I am asking is will you attend BUDS directly after your A school or will you serve with the fleet first after your A school?
Thanks- I would appreciate any information you may have.

Haydon- thanks for the information. Its great that you'll get BUDS right away. Im currently waiting to see if I will be selected for Army OCS. If not selected, I will follow your footsteps and sign the SEAL Challenge contract. Are you in the DEP program- and any idea when you will be shipped out? Also, what MOS will you be training for? One more question- how far along in your physical fitness training are you ( do you feel ready) ? Sorry so many questions - would appreciate any information you can give. Thanks and Good Luck!
