I'm probably doing NROTC at Ohio State University next year. I was wondering if there's possibly any type of major that could benefit me. Also, I understand that only a few officers are let in. Does anyone have an estimate, like exactly how hard is it to obtain an officers billet? And in the Teams, how are officers and enlisted men different?

The exact number according to the SEAL phone number I called is 50 SEAL officers per year. That's not very many. And that is not concidering that somewhere around 30 were reserved for the naval academy. If you do go NROTC I think it said they reserve 15 officer positions for NROTC graduates. I got this information from the SEAL hotline phone number. You should call it yourself at 1-888-USN-SEAL.

Hope I helped.

I'm in NROTC right now and I spoke with the guy in charge of Mini-BUD/S. He told me that there are only 16 billets available for ROTC grads and 2 of those are only for MECPs (prior enlisted). I'm guessing you're not enlisted, so that means that you'll be competing with thousands of other SEAL wannabes for 14 slots. Academy gets another 16 slots all to themselves (damn Academy).

I've seriously come to the conclusion that it's going to be harder for me to actually get into BUD/S that it will for me to graduate. I want it bad enough that I'm pretty sure injury's the only thing that could get me kicked out of BUD/S. To even get to BUD/S, on the other hand....
